September 2012 Weddings

Sometimes, I make myself crazy

I feel like I got some HUGE checks in the past few days... favor boxes, invites, bows, card box stuff, jewelry....  and it seems like every other day, another package is arriving in my office.

I think, in the next 2 weeks, I'll be slowing down from the "wedding planning" because other than paying things off in the next few months, I have literally everything done.

So in order to make myself sufficiently crazy, I'm second/third/fourth guessing my dress. I even just put a bid on a Mori Lee sample dress on ebay, just in case I might like it more.

What the F is wrong with me?   I swear, I am not gonna stop second guessing that dang dress until the day before the wedding when I know I have zero other options!!!!!   I'm making myself insane!!!

Re: Sometimes, I make myself crazy

  • Hahaha I completely understand! I keep second guessing my dress all the time! I don't know why but it is really frustrating.
  • It's soo hard, but remind yourself of why you chose your dress in the first place!  Second of all you are for sure not alone, I think eveyone feels this way. I know I did!   I was just in the bridal store today and "loved" another dress and had to refrain myself from trying it on.  Only four months to go!!
  • Oh thank you! I thought I was the only one having second thoughts on the dress.

  • This is the one thing that makes me happy I still haven't seen my dress! Its much easier to not second guess it when I don't know what I'm second guessing!!!!
  • I second guessed my dress and ended up getting a new one.... :-/ (We ended up having to move our wedding date anyway... not b/c of the dress situation... but because of other things) But honestly.... I think y'all are fine! Like someone else said just remember how good "THE" dress made you feel! All the second guesses go away!
  • Ha.. I think that's part of the problem. I never felt AMAZING in the dress.. I felt like, ok. this fits... it looks good on my body type, I can afford it...   and after trying on about 30 that looked like crap, the one that looked "good" was ok by me.  But, I immediately started having dress regrets.  I always envisioned huge amounts of BLING...  shiny and sparkly.... but, never found one that I even remotely liked.  The dress I got is more elegant and pretty than fabulous and blingy.
  • oooh which Mori Lee dress?? (ok I'm not helping but I love those dresses!)

I feel like i've created a monster myself. I was done so much early on and then somehow my to-do list is longer now than before. I just keep adding to it!
Thankfully I've had NO dress regret. I've watched so many wedding shows and have yet to see something I love more (I think that's a good sign). Nothing comes close to the back of my dress... oooooh this is making me excited!!

  • I've been second guessing my dress choice lately as well.  I've been looking at other dresses, which I know is bad.  I'm thinking about going and trying it on again to remind myself why I loved it so much in the first place. :)

This is kind of where I was too.  My mom, aunt, and sister loved it and I liked it.  There was a moment where I was like, yeah, this looks good.  But I do fear that I won't love it on the day of.  Especially after its tight fit when it came in.  I've lost some weight/inches and am going to try it on again this weekend.  I hope I fall in love!

I got the Mori Lee Julietta 3106. I'm a plus size gal... so, I wanted something that showed my curves, but didn't make me look like the staypuff marshmallow man.  I tried a few dresses with pickups and they looked ridiculous on me.

I really envisioned something bright white with sparkle, bling, lots and lots of rhinestones or something.   I really wanted it to SHINE.   What I ended up with, was elegant, chiffon with delicate beading and pearls.  I am an older bride (41), so all of the super princessy dresses looked awful on me.

To make matters worse... I went shopping right after work. No makeup, hair not done... and to top if off... I'm in the process of letting my hair grown out after cutting it crazy super short last year on a whim.  So, I look like bridal zombie in the pictures of me in the dress.  So, looking at the pictures don't help the "i'm having dress regret" thing.  Cuz, I look half dead.  Also, the sample was one size to small in the chest, but too big in the waist.  So, it didn't "pull" my belly/waist in.  I'm a big girl, but I have an hourglass shape. I may as well show off the curves I have !   The fact that the sample was ill fitting isn't helping either.

here are pics of the model in the dress... and a few of me.
