Buffalo reception location ideas

I am interested in finding somewhere for my reception that is not just a banquet hall or a hotel.  I have looked at a few wineries already and they were nice, but I was just wondering if anyone knew of anywhere else that was worth mentioning?  Thanks!

It doesn't have to be in Buffalo either, basically anywhere within an hour of the city would work!

We're having our wedding at Pearl Street Grill & Brewery.  I guess technically it is a banquet hall, but I think it has lots of character (check out site http://www.pearlstreetgrill.com/).  Since we've booked, I've heard a lot of great things about weddings held there, so I'm feeling very confident in our choice.

Wow Pearl Street does look really nice... I'll definitely have to check it out.  One question though- if I have it somewhere like Pearl Street or Delaware Park, is there enough parking available?  Or is that going to be really difficult for all of my guests?

at delaware park, they will give you parking behind the art gallery (right by casino).

at pearl street, there are a lot of parking lots around.  guests may have to pay, but parking is pretty close.

Awesome, thanks!  I am definitely going to look at Pearl Street but I think that FI wants something outdoors.  I love the Avanti Mansion but it is way out of our price range :(  We are looking at Freedom Run winery soon... it's in Lockport and they apparently have a barn that they rent out for weddings, which could be really cool.  You can also have it outside there next to a vineyard which would probably be nice.  I'm excited to check it out!

I too am going with Pearl Street and their planner is awesome. You will love her. She not traditional and very willing to work with you on the look of your wedding.

Also if you are interested in wineries Becker Farms has a cool look to their winery. It's about an hour outside of Buffalo in Gasport. I think its called Vizacarra Winery or something like that. Worth looking in to if you want something a little different. Too far out for me though.

And I'm not sure what your budget looks like but Shea's hosts weddings, which could be cool but it's on the pricier side. The Avanti Mansion is also nice but pricey too.

Rich's Atrium is where I am getting married. I guess it is a banquet hall but one with a water fall. Also try country clubs. Timberlodge in Akron is so pretty. Brookfield, Glen Oak, Fox Valley, etc. Good luck!

You should check out Beaver Island Clubhouse. It is beautiful inside and out. We're getting married on the back lawn overlooking the river. There is plenty of parking and we're having a shuttle from Holiday Inn Grand Island so people won't have to drive back and forth!

My high school date dance was at Rich's Atrium, so that's out because of awkward memories :)  It's really pretty inside and definitely doesn't feel like your typical banquet hall.

And my cousin had her reception at the Beaver Island Clubhouse- it was gorgeous!  I just don't want to copy her.  I love the shuttle idea, that would be super convenient for the guests.  Depending on where I end up I might try to do something like that.

I'll have to check out some of those country clubs... thanks for all the ideas!!

I was also looking for something similar! I've tried Becker Farms (my first choice but a little too pricey for me, sadly) and a bunch of different wineries like Marjim Manor, and Spring Lake Winery. Im going to look at Pearl St, even though they require a 100 guest minimum,  and we were only planning on about 80. Im also looking into the Hamlin House on Franklin St in Buffalo. Its very unique seeming. I also like the Lockport Locks but it seems a little pricier than I'd like.. Good luck, and definitely would love to hear of anything you find that I maybe havent looked at since we're on a similar page!

I haven't heard of Hamlin House before so I'll look into that.  And I'll definitely keep you posted if I find anything nice!

Has anyone been to an event at Stillwater?  How is it there?

I checked out almost al of the places mentioned on this thread ... we just got married in May at Tuscarora Inn in Lockport.  It stood out BY FAR among the others.  We live in DC and came up for a 3 day weekend of whirlwind venue visiting and knew the minute we walked in to Tuscarora and met with Tom DeFlippo that it was perfect.  It actually reminded me a lot of the historic places down here that we couldn't afford.  We paid $48 per person which included lots of food - apps during cocktail hour, appetizers at the table, soup course, salad course, main course, served wedding cake, champaigne toast for all...served wine during dinner.  Plus we had our ceremony there for no extra charge (many places we looked at had an extra cost for that).  The place is beautiful - historic old mansion.  Their website is www.thetuscarorainn.com. If you search for "jill + marty" on nickelcitystudios.com you should see a few pics of the inside.  I hope this helps!

We just had our wedding at the Tonawanda Castle with Rich Products Catering. I can not say enough about how perfect and beautiful everything was. Not many people have heard of the castle before so it was a huge hit since it's so beautiful and not done in either of our families. Steve at Rich's was our catering manager and he told us upfront that if we had a wedding planner that we need to fire them becuause he plays that role. Boy did he and what a fantastic job he did. He did the decorating way better than I could have imagined, people raved about the food and it was white gloved served. No one ever waited for a drink and people got to walk around the building and check it out. If you want I can send you pics.

WNYfan- I have heard about the Tuscarora Inn but wasn't sure if it was worth looking at.  I'll definitely have to check it out now!  I looked at the pics and it does look really nice.

eilajlr- My aunt and uncle went to a wedding at the Castle just last weekend and they thought that it was very nice.  I'd love to see some pics!

It isn't outisde-but check out the Lodge Auction House-though the website does not do it justice. My guests were blown away-it is such a beautiful and funky space! Food was amazing too-and the people there were great. Prices reasonable!

I am getting married at the Avanti Mansion on a Friday night. If you are not dead set on a "Saturday" wedding they offer great deals! For having it on a Friday we got a free DJ, free centerpieces (going to check them out next week), and discounts on other items as well. I know if you get married on a Sunday they offer even more discounts. So including everything that we got for "free" it made up for the cost of the reception :-)

rosemmorse- The Lodge Auction House sounds like it would be right up my alley! Would you happen to have any pictures you'd care to share?
