BM dress dilemma

Okay, ladies, here's the rundown:

At my wedding, this is what I will be wearing: http://watters.com/product.php?coll=brides&showid=717

I'm shopping for accessories (aka scouring exclusively.in) that will let me mix in some Indian touches, like shoes, earrings and possibly bangles.  I am also wearing mehndi.

Originally I thought of putting my BMs in lehengas.  My mom is very pro-lehenga, I think FI's mom likes the idea, and FI thinks it will look really strange with what I'm wearing.

What do you think - these are the options I have:

1) Modern lehengas, probably fishtail, like this: http://www.homeindia.com/bridesmaid-and-family/long-choli-lehenga/green-glam-lehenga-choli-p-ghmfl1044.html, http://www.partyandweddingdresses.com/party-lehenga-choli-pawd2036.html
2) Kurta dresses, less the leggings, like this: http://www.kaneesha.com/store.cfm?pid=8120
3) Custom dresses made of Indian fabrics w/a Western shape
4) Western-style bridesmaid dresses, like these: http://www.jcrew.com/wedding/Wedding_Bridesmaid/dresses/silkchiffon/PRDOVR~29287/29287.jsp

If it makes any difference, neither my BMs nor I are South Asian.

Help me, I'm at a loss here and we're  going to the dress shop in early Nov., so I need my BMs' measurements if we're going to order from India ...

Well, mine plan to wear Indian clothes too, and not one of us is South Asian. I'm wearing a red sari; my best friend is wearing a chocolate-brown salwar kameez, her daughteris wearing a purple and teal salwar kameez, and my roommate and other bridesmaid haven't purchased their outfits yet.

**This is completely personal opinion** but I feel that lengha's are heavier and can be far more dressier when put RIGHT beside a white wedding gown...so even though you may not mind it... I think that the bride should stand out on her wedding day...so putting the BMs in lenghas may focus attention to them.

I think the J crew dresses are the best option but if you want to do something more indian then go with a simple style kurti dress

    ....I hope that helps :)

I agree! Especially if people aren't use to seeing Indian outfits it really does take all the attention.

I agree as well, if you can find churidar salwars with less embroidery/beadwork, to incorporate an Indian theme the better :)

In this picture, the bm's are wearing royal blue saris...  <---Link
The bride is wearing more of an American outfit in some of the pictures

Here's everyone in saris, notice that the bride is wearing white... <--- Link

And another one from the same site:

Here's one that essentially covers the rainbow - wow <-- Link

This one didn't really have a good link

Here's another link as well <-- Link

    Hope that helps...

Jewelry for you - I love some of these pieces in sterling silver because they'll go with your dress but the designs are Indian.

As for the bridesmaids, I love the idea of having them wear Indian outfits. That kind of touch is what a fusion wedding is all about! You can get outfits that are simple - just pick a plain material with a fancy border or simple embroidery.
