  If you're not too busy, I'd do it as kind of a brunch thing the day of the wedding. That's what I'm planning on doing and I'm starting at 10 am. My ceremony doesn't start until 5 pm.

  I don't think it is too ambitious as long as you plan well ahead of time.
  
  Look up make-ahead recipes that can be stored in the fridge and then just heated (or that don't need to be heated at all!) and served. That way you are not worrying about preparing a bunch of food that day.
