Informal BBQ Meal Option?

Hi everyone,

I am searching for the perfect venue for my big day. My fiance and I are quite low key and would love to have an informal bbq meal, instead of the traditional multicourse sit-down set menu.

Ideally, I would love to get married outside near a lake or body of water, maybe even on a dock? And then have the reception at the same location of the ceremony.

We are thinking that we will have between 50-75 guests attending.

Can anyone think of a venue that has grills/offers a bbq option?

I was told to check with the Irwin Inn in Lakefield (near Peterborough) and am waiting for their response.

Where abouts are you located? Someone in here recommended a rowing club near Ontario place - but I don't think it had the option of bbq. I don't know if getting married on Toronto Islands would be an option, but I know you can get permits for the bbqs there (I'm not sure about bringing other bbqs onto the island though).

Are you hoping for somewhere closer to Toronto, or are you further away? There are caterers that do offer bbq - one of the approved caterers for the house we're renting is a bbq caterer.

There's a venue in Brampton called the Royal Ambassador and they have a commercial BBQ there. Check them out.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I will definitely look into them. We live in Mississauga, but would be willing to travel for the wedding. I was thinking further up North -- around cottage country possibly.

50-75 guests isn't too big. Could you just rent out a cottage on a lake and bring in caterers? People could stay the night too if you wanted.

Check out Viamede, north of Peterborough. We had our wedding there and its on a beautiful lake. They did an amazing job of creating a casual atmosphere, but still with amazing bbq food. (think fried pickerel, bbq steak, corn on the cob, etc). www.viamede.com
