No Assigned Seating Wording Ideas

Hey ladies! FI and I have having a cocktail reception with stations. We expect most people to grab a seat/table just when they need it... to use a knife for one of the small plates, to rest the feet after too much time in heels, etc. Others may station themselves for the whole night. We don't care. Based on my last post here, we have decided to have enough chairs for everyone even though we expect more people to be standing than sitting at any given time. (Thanks for changing my mind!)

So moral of the story is... I'd like to create a little sign for the guestbook table or perhaps something (somewhere?) else that tells them that they can sit when and were they like. Do you have ideas I could borrow?

(Related-we aren't going to do assigned seating. I know the majority of wonderful ladies on the list think that's the only way to go, but its just not feasible.)

Thanks ladies!

Re: No Assigned Seating Wording Ideas

  • I don't think a sign is necessary. If there aren't escort cards or a seating chart, people will figure out on their own quite quickly that they can sit wherever they choose.

Also, I'm very glad you decided to provide enough seating for all your guests!

  • No need for a sign, when they don't see escort cards or table numbers they will figure it out.
