Further proof that not everything will be *perfect*...

...but you'll live.

So, I DIYed my own invitations. I slaved over these things, tweaked colors and fonts and positions of images for months. Printed everything, cut everything myself. They went out at the beginning of February.

Which is right around the time I found out...

a) The option of "Child" (as in a child meal of chicken fingers and fries) on our response card gave the appearance that we were offering child as an entree. I've had two people ask if they can get their child medium rare.

b) Not everyone knows to write their name on the empty line. I've gotten five responses with no names. Four are no's, and we've got some mystery guests that we've nicknamed "Fish and Chicken".

c) For some reason (which I don't understand, seeing as I literally triple checked EVERYTHING, half of our response cards ended up with mailing labels that were off by one digit in the zip code. We have no idea who got the wrong zip code and who didn't, nor do we know how many RSVPs have been mailed with the wrong zip.

I should probably be having a bridezilla meltdown right about now...but I'm not.

I sent an email to those guests that I had emails for and let them know about the mixup, and gave them the option to RSVP via email to make things easier. I added an RSVP option to our website. And when March 22 rolls around, I'll call who I need to call.

The reason I'm posting all this is just to say, no wedding is ever perfect. Things are going to go wrong, details won't work out, things may fall through...you're not going to have that picture perfect pretty princess day exactly how it's laid out  in your head. But really, in the big giant scheme of things, will it really matter? Nope. What matters is that I'm marrying the guy I love in less than two months. And that's what's important. :)

That being said, do yourself a favor and NUMBER YOUR RSVP CARDS. Smile

    LOL @ the child option.

Everything will work out. It might be a bit hectic but you'll get through it. You've got this ;)

One of the 1st things I put in my wedding notes was to number the RSVP cards (Thank you, Jeana.)

    Thanks for the tip!!

Hahahaha, I think it's pretty awesome that you are serving children for a meal choice. I'm thinking it's a story you'll tell your grandkids.

I'm actually not worried about figuring out who's coming and such. My mom already offered to call everyone on their end of the list, and FI is going to take care of his family. I've already got a pretty good idea as to who's coming, it's just a matter of making sure everyone's got an entree. :)

I made that note too, after hearing Jeana mention it. And then I completely forgot about it until after they were mailed. lol

I am so going to your reception just to eat a child.  I imagine it'll probably be really tender.

I would imagine a good cabernet would compliment the textures and flavors nicely. Maybe a Clois de Bois?

I told my FI about your "child" option after you mentioned it before...he died laughing.  So now everytime we see someone to talk about the wedding, he immediately says "oh, tell them about that one girl on the knot and her menu option".

My parents had so many things happen at their wedding that brides today would be freaking out over (it was June in Oklahoma and the a/c went out - my dad had to wipe the sweat off my mom's face before he could kiss her; dad fell asleep on his aunt's diving board the morning of the wedding and ended up with the worst sunburn; dad and a lot of his family were all cops, so one uncle thought it would be funny to handcuff himself to my dad for the entire reception - mom wasn't happy then, but laughs now), but it was their "perfect" wedding and almost 39 years later, everyone still has good memories from their wedding.

Funny (or sick) thing is, there are a few people who actually thought it was a joke, given my very sarcastic and sick sense of humor.

Hey, if it gives our guests sh*ts and giggles, that's fine by me :)

SeaTea - I've heard you number them lightly in pencil on the back or do fancy flow in the dark pens.

Oceana - You are handling this so well, when it is all over that child thing will be a good story. My FI thought it was hilarious when I told him.

I numbered mine on the back, very small in the corner. I got back a couple no-names, so that really helped. Of course, then you also number your guest list (mine was in Excel, so that was easy) and you can check the RSVPs against the guest list. You'll also know exactly who is missing.

LOL about offering a child as a dinner option. If that had happened to me people in my family would've been offended and not seen that as a joke. Oh well. That's cool none of your family/friends got offended.
