Scranton/Dunmore Holiday Inn

Has anyone either used this place for their wedding reception, or been to a wedding reception here?  It seems pretty reasonable, and very pretty.  It's one of the places I have on my list to take FI to when we're in the area in March, but I'm interested on hearing opinions now.

Any feedback on this place or other reception suggestions would be lovely. =]

It's rather new, so I can't say I've been to anything there myself.

If you want some venues for reference here are a few:
    Genetti's Dickson City

    Regal Room Olyphant

    Fiorelli's Peckville (570) 489-6777

    Villa Maria, Scranton

If its the scranton/dunmore holiday inn I'm thinking of, I don't really like it too much. There is a pool in the middle of the hotel that is "open air". That's where our ceremony would have been if we got married there. The pool isn't the problem, it is the smell of it. We were planning on decorating the walls and ceiling with draping, but they don't let you. The prices are very reasonable there. I have been to mother's day brunches there and the food was always good. I think as long as you are not having your ceremony there and you are not planning on doing extensive decorating, it will be fine. You should also check out the Scranton Hilton Inn. I almost booked it, but again, they had rules about decorating.

It is more then the smell that is the problem!  When we visited, we peeked out of the reception hall to see the view we would have during the cocktail hour and saw lots of people in their bathingsuits.  Not exactly the scenery I was hoping for!

How many people are you looking to have at the wedding?  What is the furthest point south you are willing to go? And do you need ceremony space or just reception?  I have a few ideas for you, but I'll narrow them down based on what you're looking for!

Oh wow, thanks!  We're getting married in Peckville, Pa (think Dickson City)...I'm pretty sure that a half hour is the furthest we're willing to have guests travel for a reception.  We already have a church in Peckville.

We appreciate all the help! =]
