When to give thank you gifts?

When is it traditional to give thank you gifts to the wedding party and parents?  In the 2 weddings I've been a part of the bridal party got presents the day of the wedding while we were all getting ready together.  I thought that was lovely, but I've also seen recommendations saying they should be given at rehearsal dinner, or at the bridesmaids tea.  What do you think?

And what about for parents?

Any of the listed occassions is appropriate for the bridal party and the parents (assuming all are invited).  The most frequently used occassion is the rehearsal dinner.

I took my bridal party and my Mother out to lunch and gave them their gifts then.

We gave all gifts at the RD, but as PP have said, any of the events you suggested are acceptable.
