Varying Fabric

My dress is satin with a sweetheart neckline, and I found a bridesmaid dress that is lace with a reglar strapless neckline. My FSIL says that the fabric and neckline have to match my dress. Should I worry about it looking weird?

    I think it would look weird if the bridesmaid's dresses were too similar to yours, actually.

    As PP has said, worry about the formality. I might also worry about the overall "feel" of the dress, i.e., if your dress is a very modern, sleek design and the BM dresses were a very vintage feel.  However, the fabric and neckline do not need to match.
