Wedding in Kiawah

Hi - this is my first post, so hope I'm on the right board. We're getting married on Kiawah Island at the Ocean Course (this is a destination wedding for us, planning to have approximately 30 guests). I am hoping for any recommendations on vendors in the area. In particular, any guidance on photographers, officiants (we're not very religious so a non-religious or Christian officiant that would not be overly religious), and 1-2 musicians to play in the ceremony. Any guidance you could give would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Wedding in Kiawah

  • We used Rev. Farmer, we are not religious either, but he did such a wonderful job with our ceremony.

    Our photograher was John Mann

  • We were looking for a non-religious officiant so we are going with Melanie Murray

We chose Chi Photography of Charleston for our photography

There are quite a few photographers in the area to choose from.  I would just recommend that you match the style you are looking for first.  There are alot of photographers in the area that are really expensive and don't really offer that much for what you are paying.

    Good Luck!!!

  • We used Christopher Teves for acoustic guitar during our ceremony and he was great!  We also had Jill Kruger of Mobile Marriage to officiate our wedding and she was great to work with.
  • We used Palmetto Strings (string duo) for our daughter's wedding.  Lauren was very good to work with.  She responded quickly to emails and the music was perfect!

Photographer was Jenna-Marie Photography.  She is amazing.  Takes beautiful photographs and has a great, easy personality.  Sneak peek available next day after wedding!  AMAZING!!

    Congratulations and good luck!

PS:  There is a wedding today on theweddingrow.com  from Kiawah.  It's beautiful....
my daughter's a few down from that one....Jennifer and Sam! Laughing
  • Thank you all so much - these suggestions are very helpful. Great to hear from people who have had positive experiences!

ScMOB - thanks for sharing your daughter's wedding - she was a beautiful bride and looks like it was a wonderful day!
  • Richard Ellis Photography is the best in town. He photographed my friends wedding and the images were stunning and available only a week after the wedding. I would check out his site: www.ellisphotostudio.com and blog for photos and examples of weddings the the Ocean Course!

    Good luck with your planning!
