  What exactly are you looking for when it comes to an officiant?  Do you want religious, in a church wedding?  Or on site, quick and to the point?  Or something in between?

  Outdoor ceremony; religious, but not overly. Inexpensive mainly. I can't justify paying someone $400 to read something from paper that my fiance and I write.

  i couldn't justify even spending $200 with Altared Vows by Taya (she officiated my sister's wedding in '09) so we're having a friend get ordained online to perform the ceremony. doesn't cost anything to them. maybe u could do the same?

  Unfortunately, I don't think you are going to be able to find an officiant for that price; most of the ministers for hire are $600 and up.  And most of your church ministers (like mine for example, who is a pastor at a church but does weddings for people who aren't members) are also going to charge you quite a bit because you are not a member.
  
  I can highly recommend my pastor, and pass on his information to you; but since DH and I are members, we did not have to pay a fee for his services at all, so I cannot tell you how much his is.  I can tell you we have gotten many comments on the service, and how personal, love-filled, and representative of us it was, while also representing our faith.  Everything from the vows to the sermon to the Scripture readings we chose and he worked with was absolutely wonderful.

  Rev. Robert Faatz did a religious ceremony for us, outdoors, with a rehearsal the night before for $250.  PM me for his e-mail.

  Have you thought about having someone close to you being ordained?  Offer to pay for that and it could end up saving you money and having a beautiful, personal ceremony.
