SA Wednesday

I'm going to judge a little bit... when I see people that are on TK and can post a response or rebuttal every 7 seconds - I question why you have nothing else going on with your life and why TK consumes it.

On another note, I am so sore from playing kickball.

I've been judging myself for that a little bit lately. It's been four months since the wedding ... I have nothing to say except give advice to the newbies that come in here panicky and then never reply back... but yet I still check TK every night. Multiple times a night when DH is doing homework instead of entertaining me, like he should be. :)

Also, I recently found out an acquaintence of ours is getting married, so I started giving her little bits of advice on wedding planning ... I think I scared her, actually. Once I opened my mouth, 1.5 years of research started falling out, and it was a bit much.

I was definitely guilty of that this summer, Brianna. A girl on the Catholic board recently swore off TK because she realized she was posting every five minutes.

I think peek/peak is my new least favorite spelling error.

    ITA.
I'm extremely sore from PT yesterday, and all we did was stretching exercises like were you lay on your side and lift your leg up. I am so out of shape! But my foot did feel amazingly better today, so I guess I better stick with it. Maybe it'll help enough to get me out of having to get a total ankle replacement.

PS I'm sorry for being such a P&R whore lately. I only have a few minutes to relax in the morning before I have to go to sleep, and then after I wake up it's all go-go-go! This is only my 3rd week of working OT, and I'm already exhausted.

now before you laugh at them.......you should try them. they are a TON better for your feet, ankles, knees and other joints than regular shoes.

ITA! Plus, I don't like toe socks so these would be a challenge for me. Additionally, I would think that since they are rubbery, they would also get sweaty and smelly.

First Brianna ~ jealous you play kickball! Where is the league you play in? I also feel that sometimes I spend to much time on TK, and I'm not even on here all that much. My FI is so ready for the wedding to be over so I quit playing on here, but he doesn't realize it's addicting and most people stay on after the big day is over!

    Angela- Vibram Five Fingers :)

Julie- not all of them are rubber. and actually....only the soles of them are rubber. the rest is like a mesh. and you can hardly feel it between your toes...if at all. depending on the style you look into dictates the thickness of the sole. I.E the runners version is alot thicker then say a yoga version.

also, i have no problem with mine smell wise, and the only time i did was when i took them to the lake...they did smell a little after that. but a quick wash and they were fine again.

The only complaint i do have about them, is you dont get that "ahhhhhhhh" feeling when you take them off like you do your regular shoes....

I thought today was AW day. I have been out of the loop for too long.

I bought a 24 hour fitness membership after we moved and I have yet to use it 2 weeks later. I left our house last night to get a pedi and then hit the gym and realized I didn't have my Kindle or iPod so I went home instead.

My personal trainer has me doing some things barefoot now cause my right foot has been bothering me so much. I just got new shoes too, but they don't seem to be helping. I may look into those Vibram shoes.

I'm a Vibrams Five Finger "shoe" skeptic. I've heard some good things about them and I get what they are supposed to do in principle. However, I also know you run the risk of compression fractures and other very painful issues as you learn to adjust to these. It definitely takes an adjustment period since so many of us land hard on our feet when we run (especially heels) and these force you to be lighter and use the ball of your feet (which is a great thing). The PTs I have worked with don't love them, but it all depends on what your issues are and your PT.

I am so ready to go to bed. This first week is proving to be an eye-opener. I'm not sure I'm able to work full-time and go to school full-time. Being gone to work from 6:30A-7:30P, then making dinner, studying, etc turns into staying up until 1AM and then it's back up at 5:30AM to do it all over again. Not enough time. I'm going to have to learn time management and quit procrastinating for the first time in my life.

ETA: I need to be an AW for a sec... I worked out today. FINALLY. It may have only been 25 minutes and I may have been a sweaty mess for at least an hour after, but I did it. I will take my cookie or parade now.

I agree that it has a transition period. the main reason aside from what you stated, is these shoes use muscles in your feet/legs that you dont use on a daily basis, or in regular exercise. the first time i ran in them, i ran on grass...for 1 mile....i can usually hit about 3 or 4 before i'm sore...but boy oh boy. my calves hurt like no other. reason why...i simply didn't read. they say not to run more than 10% of your normal running distance for the first week or two. and to slowly build yourself up to it.

as for the injury part, your typical running shoe, has the heel higher than the forefoot, this makes us hit our heel harder than the front of our foot, the shoes just simply encourage forefoot stricking versus heel, in the long run its healthier....if you dont transition correctly though you are right...you can get hurt just like you said. because you're basically running barefoot....and if you're on concrete..that's not good. i think they are GREAT for hiking though, and its a totally different feeling. we walked 10 mile hikes for the first few months in them at least once a weekend. and we had no injuries whatsoever.

My feet/toes are so ticklish that I can barely wash my feet. You might not notice them, but some might. Some, like me. It's okay that I don't like something that you do. I have tried a pair on and I did notice it between my toes. I didn't enjoy it. Besides, there was less support in those than on my Old Navy flip flops. I'll stick with my regular tennis shoes.

Those shoes are probably not good for flat footed people?

FI went to the foot dr this week, and the dr suggested he have surgery to correct his flat footed-ness. The only thing he feels good wearing for a while is Crocs. I think he's just going to end up getting orthotics made.

Today has been ridiculous. But it made the day go quickly. I can't believe it's almost 3 o clock!

bigbabyface -- I'd definitely wear them to hike in! :) Just not to run in or everyday use. Now I want to go hiking, hmm...

Crash -- My arches have completely fallen too (thank you obsessive flip-flop wearing). Brooks shoes are the only shoes I buy because they actually make my feet feel good. They offer excellent arch support. I wouldn't think Vibram's would be good for flat-footers but I could be wrong.

I have no idea why I shower before school. By the time I make it to class #1, I'm sweaty. By my last class at 4PM, I feel disgusting. Bring on winter!

[QUOTE]Those shoes are probably not good for flat footed people? FI went to the foot dr this week, and the dr suggested he have surgery to correct his flat footed-ness. The only thing he feels good wearing for a while is Crocs. I think he's just going to end up getting orthotics made. Today has been ridiculous. But it made the day go quickly. I can't believe it's almost 3 o clock! ETA:My Co-worker gave me some stuff today called Stress-away..and it works! However, I think it may just be in my mind....
