DIY Centerpieces

To save a little money I'm thinking of making most of the centerpieces myself. Our reception is at a winery and I'm thinking of doing flower arrangements in metal/tin buckets...an idea I saw in The Knot magazine actually. Anyone have any other suggestions for cute, cheap centerpieces?

I did tall blue vases that had a floating candle in them and I tied ribbon around them to spruce them up.  Then I had four other votives around them.  I think there are some pics in my bio.  The candlelight looked really pretty.  And the venue set them up so I didn't have to stress about doing floral arrangements myself a couple days before the wedding.
Some of the girls have also done laterns with candles in them and those looked really nice to.
Not sure what your color scheme is, but I'm looking to sell mine and I'm in the process of putting together a married bio.  Let me know if you're interested.  Smile

Well..... Since it is in a winery, why don't you do something with grapes. Like the tin buckets with grape over flowing in them onto the table. Just a suggestion.

Are they round or rectangular tables?  I just saw something online that had votive candles and had grade vines (with grape bunches) intertwined.

I have also seen the table numbers wrapped around wine bottles to tie into the vineyard idea.

I like the idea you had too.

Fruit centerpieces are usually less expensive than flowers. Lemons, limes, apples etc. I like the idea of using grapes! I wonder if you could find some of those old Italian wine casks for cheap. Those could be cool with some wildflowers inside and candles around the outside.

We also got married at a winery and DIY our centerpieces.  We were on a budget and used silks and faux grapes.  We also incorporated the corks and grapes into our escort card holders and favors to add to the table decor.

Another idea is using a variety of sizes of tall, round cylander vases and fill them with corks.  I recently did this for a table centerpiece.  I've also seen these with bottoms filled with corks and a pillar candle.
