Gettin slow here...Where are you in your planning?

Hi everybody. Seemed to be getting slow here. So let's check in.

When is your wedding and Where are you in your planning? How do you feel about where you are as of now?

Or, whatever you wanna write about. Laughing

hehe. I forgot to write min.

My wedding is 4/13/12. We are still looking for our venue so we can really get this show on the road. We have a lot of ideas about what we want but we are stuck here until we book a venue. Luckily, we do have most of our wedding party, colors, a thematic element and decor and paper ideas. So once the venue and date are secured we will be back on track.

Most of the big stuff is done for ours (11/12/11). Now we are down to the boring detail stuff for the most part. Still have cake tasting left...definitely looking forward to that!

Good idea, mrswac!  I haven't been on this board in a while so this is a good way to dive back in.  Here are the highlights:

    Date.  Sunday, July 3, 2011

Venue.  An historic inn in a nearby tourist town.  They provide catering, so we don't have to hassle with bringing a vendor in.  We booked the venue almost a year ago and have one payment left.  Yay!

Invitations.  Letterpress!  I love letterpress.  So, we're going with that.  We've chosen a vendor and general look and feel but need to get things finalized.  This is the one area we're not quite on top of.  Ugh ...

Ceremony.  We'll exchange vows on the outdoor terrace, in a low-key Christian ceremony officiated by my cousin, an ordained minister.  We have a script we've tweaked and the only thing left to do is decide where to put the musical interlude (a violin duet, played by my son and another cousin's wife).

Wedding Party.  We have a teeny, tiny wedding party with only two attendants.  My best man is my son, who will be 18.  FI's best man is his best friend, whom he has known for 40+ years.

Attire.  The guys are wearing black tuxedos.  We're buying my son's (he'll need one for proms this spring and orchestra performances when he goes off to college in the fall).  My FI hasn't decided if he's buying or renting.   His best man will rent.  I've already purchased my dress (I'll start a dress thread) and need to find shoes and jewelry.

Music.  A string quartet will perform mostly classical music before, during and after the ceremony.  Once the cocktail party begins, we'll switch to a DJ with laid-back tunes the and during dinner.  After dinner, tunes will change to dance music, from Motown to Usher ... no rap, nothing misogynistic, no Electric Slide and no Beyonce.  Contracts are signed (and deposits paid) for the quartet and DJ.

Cake.  FI is a chocoholic and tasted a cake at a bridal show last year and fell in love.  We've already put down a deposit and he's on point for making final choices on design (I'd be fine with warm apple pie a la mode ... LOL!).

Honeymoon.  We're not taking a honeymoon right away.  We blowing our cash on the wedding.  Plus, we want to go to Italy and would rather wait until it isn't so doggone hot there.

    That's about it for now!

@lisa50- Everything sounds beautiful. About the honeymoon, I' with you. I wanna wait a while and try to go off season for better prices. I would love to just use all the money for the wedding instead but FI doesn't agree.

Oh, and wato make use of your son's tux.

Yeah, I'd already decided to buy a tux for him this spring, even before wedding attire was decided.  We rented tuxes THREE times last prom season.  Grrr ....

Our wedding is May 28, 2011, so we're working on finishing up all the little final details.  And trying to track down the travel plans from FI's relatives coming in from India, so that we can figure out who will need to be picked up from what airports and when.  (Nobody is getting back to us!!  Send me an email...that's all I ask...is that so hard???)

Our wedding is July 8, 2011

Small wedding- ~80 people, 4 BM and 4 GM.  My two daughters will walk me down the aisle (18 & 14) and his son is his BM. It's an adults only wedding.

    Paper stuff
    - STDs went out in October, and the invites have been crafted.  I need to decide what I want on the insert cards, and they will be ready to ship the end of April.

DIY - I'm not a DIY bride (I'm more of a VISA bride- LOL), but I am doing 3 projects. The escort cards, which will incorporate my love of jigsaw puzzles and the Chesapeake Bay). The favors, which will be a boxed gift of Blondies and Brownies for each guest, as a tongue-in-cheek for our "dynamic", and the table names, in which each table will be a brief writeup of our favorite Seinfeld episode.

Venue - on the water along the Chesapeake Bay.  Ceremony will be held out on the lawn, along with the cocktail hour (with a tented area in case it gets too hot) and dinner and reception indoors.

Florist- Focused on tropical feel, with birds of paradise. We had designed a huppa-like structure for us to be married under, but we just found some wonderful palm trees, that I think we'll be using instead...and save $1,000!

Cocktail hourwill have steel drums playing (we have a Caribbean theme). It's a beer and wine bar, with 2 specialty drinks - Mango martinis and Lemoncello Iced Tea

Dinner- seated dual plated meal.  Jazz tunes, and some of his country tunes, to be played during dinner, and then a wide variety for the dancing.  Due to the timing, we'll have to dash out during dinner, to get sunset pictures along the water.

Honeymoon - we were set to go to Riviera Maya, but we decided to save the money, so now we will go to NH, where we have a house on the lake, and have a quiet week - eating our way through New England...with no kids!

Miscellaneous- Tuxes have been decided on, BM dresses have been ordered, room blocks made, Officiant, Florist, Photographer and Makeup artist hired, wedding rings purchased.

Left to do:Make a final decision on the last Limo bid, give a "yes" to the videographer, confirm the restaurant and menu for the rehearsal dinner, get marriage license, and find some $#@! shoes to go with my dress.  I think I'm in good shape, but it may just be me wallowing in ignorant bliss,..

We're almost done. Plan on sending out final payments to vendors starting next week.
Our wedding planner is taking care of everything else so my job is almost done. I just need to complete 3 more DIY projects and all done! Can't wait! Been engaged 15-months and ready to have it over with :-).

im glad to finally hear from the other girls on this board- i feel like its not very active! we're getting married on 4/29/12 and so far we've only found the venue..everything else is still in the works (im in grad school so i think after graduation in may i'll have more time)..........nonetheless its been very stressful already because what my family wants and what FI's family wants are two pretty different things so...we'll see how that works out...

Wedding is 4/9/11 which is soon and I'm at the big freaking out stage! :) We have pretty much everything done.

    -Ceremony/reception venue booked
    -Hair/makeup services booked
-Florist, DJ, videographer and photographer booked
-Final fitting this Saturday (dress, veil and shoes bought)
-Invites are out (this is where I'm freaking out because the RSVPs are coming very slowly)
-Transportation and cake booked and paid

Right now I feel like I've gotten a lot of big things done but the small things keep multiplying and it's making me nervous.
