  Well, I think with a wedding that large, most places will be rather expensive.  However, would you be willing to do the ceremony outside?  There's a band shell in St. Joe that people have their weddings at pretty frequently.  It's not private, but there's a view of the river going out to the lighthouse from there.  Let's see.  I think the Shadowland Pavilion is the one that's on the beach, and then there's the John Howard bandshell.  Since they're leased by the city, I'm sure they're not too expensive, but you do have to be aware that there are a lot of events that happen in late summer there, so you'd have to work around those dates.  Some info: http://www.sjtoday.org/site/downtown/john-e.-n.-howard-bandshell.html
  
  I'd looked into The Heritage Center for our wedding, but it was too expensive to justify for the number of people we were going to have.  http://www.theheritagemcc.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=15&Itemid=13 They've finally updated their website so you can actually get information from there instead of calling them and waiting for their package to arrive.

  We looked at Camp Geneva in Holland... it's right on Lake Michigan and it's beautiful. Holland might be a little far away though?

  We're getting married in St. Joe and the reception is at the Shadowlands Ballroom wiht the carousel, but we also checked into The Veranda, great view, but bad bathroom situation.  The Shadowlands could accommodate your 200-300 people, I don't think you're going to get a less expensive place on Lake Michigan for that many, but good luck.

  Oh those bastards.  That sucker is new, right?  They were still building it last year when we got married.  That would have been awesome.
