Do I need Menu Cards?

Hello Ladies!
My name is Ramona and I am all set for the big day on June 26, 2010 at Perona Farms!  We're having an 11am ceremony followed by a brunch reception.  My question is: Do we need menu cards? I was thinking of having one or two on each table, but I'm not sure. Help!

You do not need to do them, I personally thought they were a nice touch, but I've been to many weddings that didn't have them and never thought twice about it.

You don't "NEED" them but I will tell you why I like them. I've been to many a wedding where they ask me "fish or chicken"

What kind of fish? What kind of chicken? What are the toppings? Maybe I'd normally pick the chicken but it is topped in some wine sauce I don't like..

So I like giving my guests the info they need on whats going to be in front of them.

You really don't need them unless you're having tableside ordering, where people need to pick their entree that night.

If you're having a buffet, or one meal for everybody, then you're O.K. because people can see the choices or they just all get the same thing (and vegetarians can request a veggie meal).

If you're asking people to choose their meal on the RSVP card, then you should be describing the meal instead of just saying Beef/Chicken/Fish. So on the card, include any sauces and the preparation method, so that people will know what they're getting. The sauce or the specific type of meat/fish might make a difference to many people in terms of which entree they will select.

I'm getting married at Perona Farms the night before you! Don't worry, we'll try not to trash the place for you. ;)

Their brunch is typically buffet style, so if that's what you're doing you don't need menus. Have you had their brunch, by the way? Delish! The chocolate hazelnut crepes are the best!

See, I'm kinda doing the opposite: We're doing menu cards *because* we're having a buffet. When I go to a buffet, I like to know what my options are first, so I can decide what I want to try.

    But I'm a picky eater =)

YAY! I am also getting married on June 26, 2010.

I am doing a sit down dinner but our guests have to choose their entree in the invite, because of logistics.  So we aren't doing a menu card, as it will be in the invite.  But I agree with JustJen.  I do like when there is a menu card, because I am also a picky eater and I am lactose intolerant so may foods are off limits to me and it is less stressful for me if I know what is avaiable to me ahead of time.  There are some great kits at your local craft store where you can just print them up real quick, for cheap.

I didn't do a menu card and we had tableside ordering.  However, the waiters did state with descriptions the type of steak, chicken, and fish.  Not a single person thought it was weird or a bother.

I'm doing menu cards- I think they add a touch of class. I'm also having dinner served tableside. We're just printing on premium resume paper, 2 to a sheet and cutting to size. It's not costing us anything-the paper (already have) and ink (printing at work). They look adorable and I'm so excited for them. I'd be happy to send you my template if you are interested- just give your email.

I like a menu card for a sit down dinner.

If you are doing the buffet the servers usually describe the food as you go down the line.

    Ladies,
THANK YOU SOOOOO much for your help.  I'm also of the opinion that I'd like to give my guest as much information as possible.  A few of the dishes do have sauces and/or marinades so in this case I'm hoping more is better. LOL!  I will be printing at home so not looking to increase the budget at all with this decision....

    THANKS AGAIN!

jtheiss - NICE!! Congrats! And yes, I've been there twice for brunch...SO AMAZING!!

felicia220 - YAY! It's nice to finally meet another 6.26 bride!

akmackay - I would LOVE the template.  Thank you!
