How Much Should I Expect to Pay for a DJ

Getting married in Brooklyn, Friday night 9/2013.

I was quoted 2k by a very well reputed DJ who I have heard nothing but great things about, but unsure if I *really* want to pay that much.

Any suggestions for great DJs around 1300ish?

  • Try http://partnersinsound.com/ LOVED their work at my sister's wedding.
  • Being as all I wanted was good music and wasn't interested in lights or photo montages, I paid  $1, 375 or something like that.  He was a DJ that basically works from home so he doesn't have the high costs for having an office space or anything but did have insurance (obviously).  He was really great (IMO) and played everything I was interested in hearing from  the 70s, 80s, 90s and todays best music (and the euro trash I wanted!).  If you're interested it's Latin Brother's Entertainment (and they aren't all about Spanish music, I promise). There are some reviews on the wedding bee if you look him up.

We had our wedding in July in the city and we used DJ Tommy at http://www.specialeventresources.com. He performed at our Sat night wedding for only $800 in NYC (which is unheard of) and had the whole entire reception on the dance floor for 2 hours. The site had a very cool planner for you to choose what type of music you like and he can customize.
