guest book ideas

Did anyone get really creative with their guest book? I am debating making one through shutterfly (David's Bridal had a card in their store for $20 dollars off a photo book) Putting in some photos of the FI and me over the years -- leaving a few pages blank here and there for people to sign. Any thoughts??

I like the ones made in shutterfly.  We did a baseball bat.  I thought it would be nice to display in our sports themed basement.  It came out really nice after everyone signed it.

I just got an e-mail from Shutterfly saying that you can make a free photobook and that deal ends tonight.

We wound up doing a signature platter and a photobooth scrapbook. We thought about a DIY photobook with our engagement photos and some pictures of us from our dating years but we never got around to it.

You could always scan things like (rated-G) love notes, greeting/birthday cards, concert tickets or movie stubs from shows you saw together, score cards from dates at the mini golf course, photo strips from the boardwalk photobooths,  etc.

A lot of people do that.  I think photo guestbooks are probably the most common type of guestbooks here :)

We bought a fishbowl and flat note cards and asked guests to write their advice for a happy marriage.  We got some really touching and some really funny responses.  I like having those rather than just "Congratulations!  Love, Uncle Bob and Aunt Sue" (which is probably what they wrote in their card to you anyway).

We got ours from the guestbookstore.com. We thought it was a little different. We bought a ton of markers for people to use and our guests have a lot of fun filling them out. We really enjoyed looking at and reading what everyone wrote.

I am actually doing the following:

I like that I can hang it up somewhere our place afterwards. It won't be something that gets lost or collects dust some where.

I would be cautious about doing something like this. I know if I was dressed up for a wedding the last thing I would want to do is get ink on my finger.

We went to guestbookstore as well - their guestbooks are a little different and they were a big hit at our wedding.  We got some seriously funny responses - especially as the night went on.  We bought a bunch of markers and  put out various sheets from the books at the cocktail hour and at hte reception.  Our final book is really funny.

My cousin painted us a wedding tree.  This is only a partial pic...on the bottom he wrote our names and the wedding date.  Plus, the tree filled in more as the evening passed.
We are hanging it in our apartment as a memory of the day and of those who attended.

we're doing the guest tree as well!  but i'm using a different Etsy seller:

regarding the comment about getting ink on your finger...is that for real?  i mean...its a tiny bit of ink on your thumb that can be washed off with hand wipes or in the restroom.  slightly nitpicky, dont you think?

I'm using that seller too!  As far as the ink thing, I was planning on having little hand wipes and a basket for the garbage set out.

We had a basket of hand wipes and no guests complained about getting ink on their fingers (although my Mom was skeptical of the idea at first.)  The guests loved the wedding tree idea and were really into it!

I was also planning to provide little wipes and a basket for garbage as well. I am not making guests sign if they would prefer not to. I'm glad others have used the idea with such success.
