wedding venue with lodging on site

Hi!  We are from NYC but looking to get married probably in Connecticut or Mass (or anywhere within a few hours from NYC or Boston, I guess).  We really want to get married somewhere where most of our guests (say, 50-75 ideally, at least 20-30) could stay on site with us, either in separate cabins or in a hotel/inn-type setting that would ideally be exclusively ours.  We've been to weddings like this (and LOVED them--it's like going to summer camp with your best friends, but fancier!), so we know they exist, but we're having trouble finding any.

I know I said "fancier," but we actually aren't looking for a fancy wedding.  We're on a budget, and we don't need any bells and whistles.  Just an attractive location and adequate lodging (we've even considered actual summer camps with camp cabins for lodging).  The venues that have appealed the most to us so far, for example, have been barns--but we can't find any that provide enough lodging on site!

Any ideas?  Thanks!

    This might be too expensive for you, but have you thought about the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz?  It's big enough to accommodate as many people as you want, hold your wedding and there are plenty of activities for people that want to make a weekend of it.  It's really a fun place.  I know people that will travel there for the day from NYC to just get away and be in nature.

    I've been to the Windham-Tolland 4-H Camp. It's located in the NE corner of CT. I know that they rent out but I'm not sure of the cost. It would be OK only if everyone doesn't mind bringing their own bedding and flashlights. The only other consideration would be the time of year you plan on getting married and making it work around the camping season.

    I'm having my ceremony and reception at The Spa at Norwich Inn located in Norwich, CT. Its minutes from Mohegan Sun casino, so that makes it about the half way point between NYC and Boston.  Based on their website it looks like they might be able to accomodate the number you need. If not, there are a few less expensive motels/ hotels near by on the same road.

    You might want to look at spas/ resorts in the area that you want to have your wedding.

    The Publick House in Sturbridge, MA also has a hotel on their grounds. Their tent is great, but their indoor space has a bit of a rustic feel as it is more of a period setting (1800s)

    I would also recommend checking with some hotels near some of the barn sites you liked, some of them might have shuttle services that will transport your guests so you can have the best of both worlds.

    I would also look at anything in the Berkshire mountains...there are some lodges up there that could fit the bill (though I don't know any by name)

    Hey I'm from Queens, NY!  I had my wedding at Water's Edge in Westbrook in Sept.  The hotels are a little pricey though, it's was roughly $200/night.  What we did...my DH and I stayed in the hotel the wedding night and almost everyone else stayed at the Econo Lodge and I was told it was like a huge hotel party.  People had booze ready to go in their rooms for the after after party (the after party was in the Water's Edge bar).
    I also stayed at the Water's Edge the night before the wedding so that my bridal party could get ready there. 
    If yout want everyone to stay at the same place then you can look at hotels with banquet halls.  If you want something with cabins, you might need to go further up north.

    Have you looked into Dolce in Norwalk? Reasonably priced rooms, BEAUTIFUL grounds, and awesome food and wine.

    It's just shy of 2 hours from NYC, and the town of Kent is wonderful for those who want to stray off the camp's grounds.

    Didn't work for us (we did get married in Kent though), but I've seen some great photos from other blogs showing weddings there.  So I know it's not all about the venue selecting 1 or 2 good shots for their website.  Also, it seems like a pretty good value given all that you get for your money.  But you likely won't fill the place up with just your party.
