Card box help

I started making a card box with three rectangle boxes. I painted 2 and wanted to make the third one look different. So i first used fabric and it looked horrible. I bought some red cardstock 12 x12 size and don't know how to apply it?

Should I just fold the paper around the edges (act like it's thick wrapping paper) or cut out each piece the correct size for each flat face (side)?

So it's confusing- I need help! :) TIA

i think i might use it as thick wrapping paper. i think if you cut out each side it won't look that great...

It might be really hard to use it as thick wrapping paper though, since it's, well... thick.  How big are your boxes?  Will there be seams anyway?  If so, I'd cut it to fit the sides & Mod Podge that sucker.  Mod Podge makes everything look better, just get the matte kind.
