signature cocktails

My fiancee and I really want to do a dark n' stormy as our signature cocktail at our wedding.  Are we allowed to change the name of the drink to something not so...dark?

Re: signature cocktails

  • Apparently the Dark 'n' Stormy is a copyrighted name... strange.  Though I'd still think you're ok with changing it for your wedding.

  • You can change it whatever you want! But I agree that it would be a good idea to describe what's in it (though I'd do that even if you keep the name; I'm not familiar with that drink).

<div>Yeah, I've heard that you have to use Gosling's ginger beer (in addition to their rum, of course) to use the name.  </div><div>
</div><div>Back to the OP, I think it's fine to change the name as long as you have a description, although if your wedding is at all beach-y or nautical (venue, decorations, etc.), I would keep the name.  Good drink choice!</div>
  • the name of your siggy cocktail doesnt have any bearing on how your marriage will turn out :) i say keep it!

  • You can change the name.  I would just have signage that says what's in the drink, so guests know what it is.

  • thanks so much for all your responses!  my wedding is actually on a harbor in cape cod mass so maybe I will keep the name! if you have never tried a dark n' stormy (which should always be made with goslings products in my opinion) you should!!!
    :)
  • our wedding venue puts up a little "sign"(on the bar) althugh it looks nicer then just a sign... anyways  it says "bride and grooms signature drink" and tells the drink name and ingredients so you could call it whatever you want, as long as people can easily read what it is in it!

Never heard of a dark and stormy but i think the name is kinda cute considering the wedding location

Hope the weather isn't dark and stormy  on your special day!!!
