Re: First meeting....

  • All I got from my ex's was emotional baggage, too bad I can't sell that too!

Dh and I always slept together on our first date, we're a bunch of ho's...

[QUOTE]We met at a party. My friend liked the guy who's apartment the party was at, so she dragged me there with her.  H was the party thrower's best friend.  H was sitting there, playing his guitar, doing his "look at how cute and musically talented I am" act for all the girls in attendance. I thought he was kind of a douche, and I was dating someone else, so I barely paid any attention to him. But he apparently noticed me.  Our friends started dating eachother. I got to know him, broke up with the other guy, and we started dating three months later.  I think I knew he was the one after about a month. I can't pinpoint the exact moment, but I just knew.  Two months after we started dating, I went on a cruise for a week.  While I was gone, he got wasted and left a voicemail on my phone telling me that he never wanted me to leave again, and that he wanted to marry me.  He was terrified that it would scare me off, but here are :)

I like your story and your puppy.
  • We met in a fan forum for our favorite basketball team.  Whenever he posted he was ridiculously funny and smart and I was really attracted to his forum personality.

Then one day he started a thread trying to get me to ask him out, and I caved and asked him out ... so it was a semi-blind date.  The only thing I really knew about him was that he was 6'5".  Well, when he showed up ... he was everything I love in a guy and more.  We went to a basketball game and had a fabulous time ... major chemistry.  I waited until the 3rd date before I told him I had season tickets, so that wouldn't be the only reason why he wanted to date me.  lol

How I knew we were MFEO is really sad, so I won't go into great detail ... but he was my rock when my mom passed away.
  • Thanks! We like our puppy too...most of the time.

I intentionally broke the rules about how to get a serious boyfriend
    1. We met in a bar
    2. I slept with him right away

Someone clearly didn't teach him the rules because he's still hanging around.
  • I was told we could either have a small dog or a kid. We simply don't have room for both. I chose kid, so we'll get to working on that after November. Once the kid is mobile, however, we will need a new place to live, so my ultimate plan is to have a yard so I can have a dog AND a kid!

Why no kitties till a baby??
  • That's ok, I broke pretty much all of my rules with dh
    1) won't date someone more than 5 years older
    2) won't date someone who is/was in the military (Marine)
    3) won't date someone who is shorter than 6'2 (he's 5'8)

Turned out pretty good so far :)

Aw Christy :( (that's my name too!).
I knew my ex was not the one when he refused to stop playing WoW and drive me 1 hour to the Baltimore hospital when my dad ran his hand through a tablesaw. MC /> gf's father almost dying.

    HA- nice strategy

FI had 2 loaner kitties when I met him, and we sent them back to their real father when we bought this condo. I am allergic, and not the type of girl that sweeps every day, so the hair was unbearable for me. I am really more of an outside pet person. No more kitties for us. I just don't like them. One day when we get a house with a yard, then I can have  a mostly outside dog.

But that's just my plan. I'm quite sure it won't be that simple. It never is.

I'm wearing 4 inch heels at the wedding so I hopefully don't look too much like a child next to him.  Dancing is a challenge!  We're working on that so we don't look strange during the first dance.
  • High school =) I was a sophomore and he was  a senior. We were both dating other people and after talking for about a week we ended things with our boyfriend/girlfriend and have been together ever since. Been inseparable for the past 6 years =) I  knew he was the one I was meant to be with 6 months into it and he asked me to marry him when I turned 18 <3

I really have a logic behind this. I see how my niece (Who is still a baby) is with cats ... she tries to "pet" like everybody else and winds up poking them in the eye or pulling their tail ... and obviously everybody's trying to teach her how to be nice ... but it's kind of hard to keep a cat out of a room ... and it's hard to keep her from trying to play with the cat. I was thinking a puppy wouldn't as bad because with baby gates you can keep the 2 separated as necessary.

That makes sense.  My parents had a cat when I was born who somehow got it into his head that I was his baby.  He'd stay under my bassinet and attack the legs of anyone who came near the bassinet.  Then he constantly wanted to get into the bassinet with me.  My father had to start keeping him in the garage.  By the time I was a toddler Jasper wanted nothing to do with me and would sprint from the room whenever I was present.  I, apparently, liked to bite his tail.
  • Meg, when my cat was 2 she was introduced to dbag ex bf's nephews. The second they walked in the door she flew under the bed, not to be seen for another 5 hours. If the kitty wants to escape they will :)

We're trying to decide when to get another cat. We want to get another dog eventually, so I'm trying to decide if it would be better for my current cat to introduce a new kitty in the next few months, then a puppy a year or so from now, or hold off and get the kitty/puppy at the same time. I also don't know if my dog Katie would try to eat the kitty or be terrorized by it. Oh such a horrible dilemma :)
  • Katie - one at a time for sure.  A new dog and a new kitty at the same time might be too much for both of your animals to handle.
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

  • Well, the puppy would be *covers dog's ear* after Katie. So I'm not sure if I want to wait another year or two *crosses fingers for later* before getting a kitty too.
