Invitations

We are starting to look at invitations and I was wondering what the average price per invitations is? Any feedback or advice on the invitations would be greatly appreciated!

From the websites that I have seen, it looks as if they are around $3 or $4 per invite without postage. I'm making mine from scratch, and I've calculated that I can make mine for $2 each without postage, so $3 tops.

Let me know if you are going to be making your own, and maybe I can help out with where to order supplies from.

You can browse Etsy.com - type in wedding invitations to see different styles of invite. Like someone mentioned above, the average seems to be $3 per invite. I also made mine for a little under $2 not including postage. My DIY breakdown is below.

Totally depends on what kind of invite you want.  Mine were customed designed and assembled pocketfold invites and they ran about $5.50 each with several inserts.

Mine are only costing like $2 each at most, maybe even less. I found ones I liked on etsy and had the designer change the wording a bit and colors. Then she sent us the file. So, I only paid her for the file. I then sent the files to a printing place that printed them on cardstock that I picked out. Lastly I purchased pocketfolds from cardsandpockets.com and then assembled them with the invites/inserts. Semi-diy but technically I only assembled them myself but the savings was huge!

I also bought matching menu, program, and escort card files from this seller so I am really saving a good chunk on stationary!

Did you have them done locally? I am looking for somewhere around RI to check out for our invitations.

I did mine at "Papers" in Newport on Bellevue Avenue. She has really high quality stuff and is realy knowledgeable and sweet to work with. They were on the pricier side, but they were something my Mom really wanted to invest in, so who am I to argue? Mine were by Crane Papers.

Thanks courtchace7 & dberrett, I appreciate the tips. I have heard of that place in Smithfield, and I was thinking about checking them out. We are having a super small wedding- like 65 guests-so we only need about 40 invitations. I may even consider doing what you did courtchace7 and buy the file on esty and do them myself. I'm not that crafty, but it might work out.
