Where to put the gift table??

Ok I am having an outdoor (backyard) budget wedding I wanted to know if you think it would be ok to have the gift (envelope box) on the same table I am having the escort cards on at the same time....I only have so many tables so I was thinking of having it over to the far left and then having the escort cards out on the same table for people and then when all of the escort cards are gone this will just become the gift table....what do you think??

Or should I have the envelope box and gift table separate or wait to have the escort cards cleared and then ask if someone could bring the box out??

Re: Where to put the gift table??

  • The card box would go in the same area designated for gifts, at least I would think. If you want to share tables, I don't see anything wrong with that as long as there is enough space.
  • We had ours next to our guest book, which was as soon as you entered the wedding area. We got married on a farm so we used wine barrels as guest book, gift, escort tables. If you are limited on space, putting it on the escort table is fine. Everyone will be sure to see it :)

  • Wow.  In my region of the country, everyone sends the gift to the bride's mother's house or the bride's house three weeks before the wedding.  There are never "gift tables and envelope boxes."
  • Kristin, do you really think that's a regional thing? Because I think I'm from your region of the country too, and I've always heard of a gift table. Maybe it's just your town or something?

Queen Jane, I think that's a fine idea! Also consider some other creative surfaces like Mrsryan's wine barrels. There are lots of household items that could work (since you'll be in the backyard anyway), but it would be neat to have something that represents you. Like if you both love reading, maybe a small bookcase. You could put escort cards on the shelves. Or if you love traveling, the card box could sit on a big rolling suitcase. The lovely thing about budget weddings is they have so many opportunities to be creative!

    Good luck and congrats!

  • Here was ours. The lighting isn't great in this pic, but we put name cards, family pictures, guest book and the card box on the same table. When the name cards were gone there was room for gifts, but most people mailed them. The cake and cookies went on the one next to it.
