Barn Venues/Rustic Venues in Upstate NY

We are looking to get married October 2013 and I would love more than anything to get married in a rustic setting (preferrably a barn). I picture pumpkins, corn stalks, mums...so pretty! I am hving difficulty finding such a place in the upstate NY area. I am currently looking anywhere between Buffalo-Albany. Our budget is very tight ($15,000 for the entire wedding....less if possible!). Any suggestions/recommendations? Thanks!!Smile

The only one I'm familiar with is Critz Farms outside Cazenovia. They are conveniently located to the village, although may run on the pricey side. I would check with county agritourism sites as they may have lists of farms that host events like Critz.

It may not be as "rustic" but many of the women have had their weddings at the vineyards which is another outdoor option for the fall. Another good site that I just thought of is Highland Forest which is beautiful in the fall. It's not a barn, more of a lodge, but really neat none-the-less.

You definitely have the time to find a location! GL!

There is one place near Ithaca: http://www.thebarnparty.com/index.html

I can't offer a recommendation of any kind as I've never been there though.

I had my reception in a barn! And got married on the deck attached to it. I loved it!!$200 to rent it, and you use SUNY Oswego's catering... I was nervous with it being catering through the college, but the food we had was really good!! It's Fallbrook Recreation Center... not many pics online though.

<div>I went ot SUNY Oswego.  Fallbrook is pretty nice.  It's 2 floors and there's a huge grass area surrounding it with a creek running next to it.  The catering at Oswego has a good amount of options I believe, and is very good.  There are some hotels nearby, and they may let you rent out rooms from the college (I think they have a limited number).  There's a good amount of parking there too, but I don't remember how many it fit for sure.</div><div>
</div><div>If you Google image it looks like there are a handful on pictures, but like mentioned earlier -- not toooo many.</div>

I also wanted to get married in a barn, but ended up at a vineyard. Here's some places I found in my search:

    Hurd Orchards in Holley, NY
    http://www.hurdorchards.com/private_events2.htm

Suzanne's Fine Regional Cuisine- It's a restaurant in a farmhouse, but they do weddings in the barn. The food is awesome!

The "Party Barn" mentioned above outside of Ithaca is just a barn renovated to be a reception hall. It's perfect for a reception (loft, bar, deck, catering kitchen in basement) but not so great for a ceremony. They just have a patch of grass next to their neighbor's garage.

    The Apple Barn Farm

    Springdale Farms B&B

    Becker Farms and Vizcara vineyards

    Pruyn House and Buhrmaster Barn

    Hobbit Hollow Farm B&B

    Stone Tavern Farm

Chateau LaFayette Reneau winery & inn

This is a small reception room in their tasting barn. For a larger wedding they tent the lawn.

    Cayuga Ridge Winery (tent& barn)
    http://www.cayugaridgewinery.com/events.htm

    Elderberry Pond
    http://www.elderberrypond.com/

Genesee country Village- I think the reception are in the "meeting hall" but it's very rustic

There's also this place called 1899 Barn or something similar, but it was too far away in the Hudson Valley for me to seriously consider.

As you can see, I spent a lot of time hunting down venues. I hope this helps you! Good luck!

  • Where is the 1899 Barn? I am trying to find a barn venue in Hudson Valley/Dutchess County/ Putnam County area. I tried searching for it, but I am not coming up with any results. Do you know of a website or a phone number??

I have just posted my barn/farm as a site for weddings.  Oct. 2013 is still available. We are located about 30 mi. SE of Syracuse and I think we will fit into your budget. You can preview our newly-formed website barnesbarn.net   GOOD LUCK!   Mike
  • Way later than it would probably be needed, but it's The Circa 1799 Barn. I am pretty sure their website is http://www.circa1799.com. There really isn"t a lot of information on their website, but it does look super rustic.
  • Check out www.orchardgrovefarms.com  They are new but they might be worth looking into!  Good luck!
