Anyone have any feedback on David's Bridal, Roseville?

I am going in JUST to try on 'shapes' of dresses soon... this is my third marriage but I have never worn a gown before b/c I was over 300# and didn't think they looked good on me AT ALL.  I don't know what shape looks best on my finally-slimmer figure, and I am not ready to buy.  I just want to try on.  Are they going to try to hard sell me?  Just looking for some feedback or ideas on a good place to start.  Thanks and congrats to all!

    I went there to have my girls try on bridesmaid dresses.  You have to fill out paperwork if you go in, so you'll get a lot of junk mail/email from them.

    My experience there was actually pretty nice.  I didn't feel too pressured to buy, but it's best to assume that you'll get pressured at ANY bridal shop.

    However, I do have to say, if that 4/13/13 is your wedding date, you NEED to start thinking about buying a dress asap!  Once you buy a dress, it will likely need alterations, and if that is your wedding date, David's might be the best place to look because you might have to buy off the rack.

    BTW, congrats on the weight loss, and try on many different types of shapes, even if you're not sure it'll look good.  You might be surprised what looks best.

    If it were me and I knew I wasn't buying, I'd refuse to do their paperwork.  I got GOBS of calls and spam email from them even after stating I did not want to be on any additional mailing lists.  Frankly, my experience there was not good.  I tried on dresses, much like you, just to get an idea of the shape I liked (in Oakdale).  I had to go in looking for a bra to use with my eventual gown and the stuff they were trying to say would work was frankly ridiculous.  You can not squish my boobs into a cup 3 sizes too small no matter how big the band is!!

    I went to Davids Bridal in Bloomington just to try on dresses for myself, BM, junior BM, and FG (my mom is making all the dresses and we needed ideas and to know what styles everyone felt most comfortable in). I tried on dresses first and the lady was very, very pushy about me needing to buy a dress that day (I told her my sister was out of town for school and I couldn't possibly purchase something without her seeing it first - I thought it was a good excuse). When she finally realized that I was not going to be purchasing anything she disappeared and we didn't see her again the whole time the others were trying on dresses. Davids Bridal has a decent selection for trying things on as long as you are not expecting much from the salespeople. And ditto receiving tons of phone calls, texts, and emails from them and others they give info to.

    I had a really good experience there just trying on for shape. Ask for BEV to be your consultant!!!!!

    I haven't been to that store. When my friends and I went prom dress shopping they started mailing us all the wedding stuff too, which almost gave my dad a heart attack. If you know you aren't buying, totally use fake info. I used my old college address!

    I've been to a few David's Bridal stores in the Mpls area with varying experience. I had both great and not-great experiences at the Maple Grove store. The first girl we had at MG was very relaxed, not pushy at all and really made the experience fun (shopping for Bridal, I did not buy). We went for bridesmaid dresses soon after to MG and had an extremely pushy sales person who spent a lot of time talking about her own wedding. She eventually disappeared and left us on our own for half the appointment. The  Frankly, the appointment was more enjoyable without her and my mom helped pull dresses and skip the girls. As an FYI, Roseville store is SMALL, so be prepared for a very crowded store and backed-up check-in area. Our "consultant" was heavily focused on her other bride, to the point where she asked me to leave the bridesmaid dress area (we were shopping for bridesmaid dresses, btw) to go into the jam packed fitting area to look through a catalog so she could be near her other bride. Really? We politelty declined and left the store.

    I went to the Roseville location.  Was not impressed at all.  The lady that was helping us was also helping 2 other people at the same time.  I also don't like how they are set up.  We felt very crowded with the other two groups that were in there. I bought mine from Angelique's in Blaine and highly recommend them. Good Luck!

    I was just there this week!

    Bev was also my consultant and she was great.  She did try to upsell me into some things (veil, shoes, etc.), but when I said no she wasn't more pushy than that.  She also showed me a lot of different styles based on my favorites online (so make sure to do that before you go!).  She stuck to my budget and showed me some beautiful dresses at my price point.  I actually went in with the same attitude and ended up purchasing a gown there the next day.  It was an as-is that was also on sale, so it was a great deal.  She did put some timing pressure on my in that regard ("it won't last the week!"), but that was legit, I think.  And I did indeed end up with the perfect dress, so I can't complain.

    I would suggest going during the week as early in the afternoon/evening as you can.  I get off work around 3 so I made an appt for that time and it was pretty dead.  By the time we left around 5 more people were trickling in.  I've been there for weekend appointments with other brides and it is a TOTALLY different experience.  While I was there Bev had another bridesmaid customer and I barely noticed when she was helping them. However, I know if a consultant is helping more than one bride it can be crazy and customers are left to fend for themselves.

    David's is not the best, I agree, but it was really helpful if you've never shopped for a gown before (of any kind!).  I never went to prom and I didn't really know what kind of dress would look good on my body.  I bet you might have the same issue if you have lost a lot of weight recently - your body is different! At David's (unlike some boutiques) you can usually try on dresses in YOUR size - not a sample size which usually don't give the real effect of what a dress will look like.  I would be open to seeing what styles they have on hand in your size and try them on.  You'll get a good idea of what looks good on you.

    The Roseville one IMHO has the best customer service out of any DB store I've been to. I'd for sure go on a weekday just for the fact that it won't be so busy and a consultant will actually be able to do their job well for you. Since it is extremely close to your wedding, they have samples you can buy off the rack.

    Bad experience there the other day.  One consultant, two brides...blech!  And it was not busy...they just scheduled it that way.  She was nice, but she was stretched so thin she didn't listen to anything I said.  I didn't get to try on a single gown I'd hoped to.  The manager kept pulling her away mid-sentence to help the other bride.  I was there for 2.5 hours and tried on 4 gowns.  Also, when I said I didn't like a dress, they'd put a veil on me (even though I'd told them I had no intention of wearing a veil) and ask again. WTH is that about!!  By the end, I got myself out of the last dress and waved to the consultant on my way out the door...
