Large, inexpensive venue, within 90 minutes of NYC?

Hi All,

I’m newly engaged, and in the very early phases of wedding planning. The more research I do, the more overwhelmed and shocked I am at how much things cost, and could really use whatever advice/suggestions you may have!

We have to have a big wedding (around 250-275 guests), because we both come from very large families. We’d like to have it within 90 minutes of New York City (we live here, and my family is from eastern PA), and cap our budget at about $30k. I’ve contacted dozens and dozens large venues in NYC, Hudson Valley, NJ, and eastern PA, and most quotes are coming back at over $100 a head. With such a large guest list, that takes up nearly our entire budget.

Does anyone have any reception venue suggestions that our more reasonable?

Have you thought about asking to do your wedding on a Friday or Sunday......maybe even a Sunday brunch/lunch? A typical saturday reception will normally take about 40% of your total budget. You can also check the new jersey board and see what the girls there suggest.

the only venue that i found during my search that was under $100 a head was Coral house in long island.

we got a really nice deal on our reception hall but we are getting married on a sunday evening it comes out to around 86 after taxes and fees.

No worries--this is totally doable! Check out Queens; Nancy already mentioned Bruno's and Riccardo's... there's also Dante's Catering and Astoria World Manor. Both have options that include open bar, cake, etc for $50-60 a head. Good luck!

Hi !!! We just checked out the fountain head today in new rochelle and they want $80 a head for a friday or sun night or $105 for sat efore tax and tip... Tons of food...
