Vent, Confessions, AW, and Open Letters...

Re: Vent, Confessions, AW, and Open Letters...

  • edited December 2011
This week has been a whirlwind.

    1.  The IRS rejected our tax credit (8k first time homebuyers) after 6 months of battling with them sending things in for verification etc etc.  and finally just sent us a letter saying it was disallowed and they have removed it from our refund.  So now I need to start the fight all over.  I actually have a tax payer advocacy service working in my favor now, which is nice.

    2.  Doctor called to say I have high cholesterol.   Fun fun!   It runs in my family, so it's no surprise that even though I barely EVER eat fried fatty foods, I end up with it.. All the more reason I need to stay on the exercise bandwagon after our trip to CA and then see if it goes down after I lose a few lbs.

    3.  DH is away for work all week, and some slut who used to be obsessed w him has been popping up on his FB flirting with him.

    4.  Last night I took Oscar to the dog park (he LOVES the dog park).   A few dogs got into a fight, Oscar was NOT there at the time but like all the other dogs he ran over to join in once the fight broke out.  A big white dog had him pinned down and had his teeth around his throat.  Next thing I knew all the dogs were all over each other, and some man came over to try to break it up.  What does he do?  Grabs OSCAR by the throat, holds him up in the air like a pig about to be slaughtered and says "Who's f'in dog is this?"  I ran over to him and he THREW him down on the ground at me and said "get your damn pitbull out of here" .... Oscar was not even fighting, he was intrigued, went over AFTER it started, and ended up being pinned down!   But yea, let's play the blame the pitbull game because you're ignorant and don't know any better so when dogs fight it MUST be the pitbull causing the problem.  I was so upset I just left, I should have fought back at the guy and said PUT MY DOG DOWN a-hole.  But I was just too flustered and worried for Oscars safety (I didn't know if he had been cut or not yet).

I confess I want a small labradoodle.  I'm not usually a dog person, but they are just too cute.

Ooodsie, I don't know how you kept your cool, if he had thrown Kayla down, I would have thrown him down. Poor Oscar! Pitties get such a bad rep, but they're the sweetest and gentlest dogs if they're treated right and not abused by humans.

Oscar does want to play!!   Jen, do you have a membership to the Core Creek dog park?  Thats where we went.  We should meet up for a doggie play date!

Ooods - sounds like one helluva week.  You def need a strong drink!  Good luck with the IRS - those ba$tards!

AW - 10 more days!  Tomorrow I can officially say we are in the single digit countdown!  I have my final dress fitting tonight and my sparkly belt finally came in to try on with the dress.  I also got another mock (remember how I didn't love my first one?) and I LOVE this one.  It is just what I want!

I am feeling fairly calm overall and ready to DO THIS!  No vents or frustration... and I hope there won't be any leading up to the wedding.

    Dear Ooodsie and LadyJ,

You have super cute doggies. Mister Skips loves to play too! He has slightly more hair than Oscar and Kayla....

Ooodsie - that's insane!!!  I love pitties.  We get calls all the time from crazies saying they want to eradicate pits.  They are the sweetest dogs.

Also - I have high cholesterol too, have had for years, even when I was an exercise-crazy vegetarian.  Its just hereditary.  My PCP wanted to put me on crazy drugs, but I asked for a second opinion. I go to a cardio/lipid specialist at Abington who checks me out once a year and agreed that a young woman who wants to have kids soon has no business being on a statin.  As long as your ratios are good (ratio of good cholesterol to bad), you're not really at risk.  Don't freak!

I confess I'm having a hard time packing for the honeymoon, mostly becuase I am packing a separate overnighter bag for fri and sat nights and I can't wrap my head around what I'm going to need this weekend.  I suck at packing.

AW - I'm getting married in 3 days!!! AAHHHH!!!!!!!

Also, I went to my waxing appt today.  It wasn't fun, I'm not gonna lie, I sure hope FI appreciates this.  But I LOVED the place I went. I went to see Kim at Better Health in Conshohocken.  She's awesome, and she explained the extra steps she takes to keep everything sanitary.  I'd defintiely recommend her.

Um ok I know I am late to the discussion but I had to tell you that pretty much the same thing happened. We were at the dog park when a fight broke out and my dog and another dog got into it in the middle of this fight. When we pulled them apart the other people's dog (it wasn't their dog mind you) was whimpering a lot so everyone thought he was really hurt. Luckily there was a vet tech there and she checked him over and he was just scared. The dog babysitters were giving me the nastiest looks. When I went over to my FI he showed me that our dog had 2 puncture wounds on his face right above his eye from the other dog. I was so shaken up at the time that I didn't make a big deal about it because he was ok. But I did exchange numbers with the other people.

A few weeks later the dogs owner called me and told me I HAD to pay him $200 for the doggy ibuprofen that his dog needed after the fight. I calmly told him that my dog had been bit over the eye and so we could call it even. At this point he started yelling at me and telling me that my pit "ran across the park and attacked his dog" (mind you he WASN'T THERE!) and then told me I had to pay "or else". I asked or else what? are you going to take me to court? good luck with that buddy. He got very flustered and then basically got off the phone with me after making a few more terrible remarks about my pit.

Just had to share that there are terrible people out there that don't understand what great dogs they are. Don't let them get you down! You are the one with an awesome dog.

The other stuff though... boo!! I hope it works out

Thanks Rach!  Your dog is adorable, I love the smiling photo!

I hate close-minded people.  I keep saying if Oscar would have been a cute little poodle or something people would have been all "ooh your poor poodle got caught in the middle of that" but no..

Confession. I totally want to do wedding things instead of homework. and I had to skip class bc sitting, walking, sneezing, breathing all hurt my back. No clue what is up with it.

Ooodsie - I would like to say I'd have killed that guy - but I also would have been worried about my babies more. I don't have pitbulls, but I almost adopted one (someone got to her before I did - eh wasn't meant to be) but they are the sweetiest damn things. My tattoo artist has like 5 and they are fabulous dogs!

Apollo and Orion say hi to Oscar, Kayla, and Mister Skips.

    Taccoten - PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES!

Cara- YAY!!! 3 days! And can you PM me the prices and the Salon info? Whenever you get a chance- I def. needed a good recommendation from someone and I'm not sure the gal I like still works at Citrus.

B2B- Feel better! Drink as many clear fluids as you can - Sprite and Ginger Ale (once you can hold anything down) are your friends! Hopefully it's just a 24 hour bug. Hope FI gets well soon too.

B2B, I went home from work today with a stomach bug too.  It has been going around my building.  All I have had is ginger ale and soft pretzels.  Soft pretzels help for some reason!  Feel better!

My parents have a pit, and friends do too, and I love them.  However, due to their jaws, they are dangerous when they attack something... trust me.  I won't get into the story here because I don't want to fuel the "pits are terrible dogs" fire.  They are great pets.

I really hope you were being sarcastic here....their jaws are stronger than other dogs and their bite pressure crap is a total myth. And ANY DOG when attacking something/someone has the potential to be dangerous.
