Marriage License

Does anyone know if the cost of a marriage license in AZ goes up the closer you get to your wedding date? My mom seems to think it will cost more the longer I wait.

How long did it take to get yours? Did you just walk in and walk out with it?

Both FI and I are working up till the wedding - we don't have any time off until 2 days before. So we were going to go get it the Thursday before. But not if we can't take it with us afterwards or if it's gonna cost more.

We got ours in December for our May wedding because one on the pastors we met with said the cost would go up at the beginning of the year. We paid $72. We asked the clerk about the rate going up and she said she hadn't heard anything about that. It doesn't cost more the longer you wait; it is a set rate.
It took us about 10 min to get ours and we walked out with it that day. Easy peasy!

They are $72 for the license and $26.50 for a certified copy (which you will need if you are changing your name) and that price does not change depending on the date.

In fact, Arizona marriage licenses have no waiting period, so you can get married the same day you get your license if you wanted to.  They are also valid for one year after you receive it, so you can get it any time within the year of your wedding.

Very simple, in and out process. Both of you need to be there though. Check out your local justice court. I live three miles away from mine, so it was simple and hassle free. I'd do it sooner than later, just to keep chipping away at the old block.
