  Its about the going price range of gowns like within 100 to 1000, $ would be within up to a thousand, $$ would be within 1000 to 2500 $$$ would be over 3000 to outrageous (hahaha)

  It usually depends on the designer or the store.  But they normally have a key available for you to check.  Part of the reasons designers have a range is because it really depends on who is selling the dress.
  
  It can even depend on the magazine that is showing them too.  In TK's latest magazine, the dresses they showed were all under $2K, and $ meant it was under $500.
