Father/Daughter Dance but no Groom/Mother Dance. Awkward?

The groom mother will not be in attendance and she has made that very clear. Will it be awkward or will be really notice if I have my dance with my father and he didn't have one with his mother? I don't want to hear all the questions about why she isn't there. I'm wondering what kind of smooth transition we can do so it won't look off...

My fiance's parents won't be in attendance either for numerous reasons. However, he is very close to my mother and asked her for a dance instead. I understand that its not right for everyone, and if its not right for you, I think its perfectly fine to just have a father/daughter one.
  • FIs mom probably won't be in attendance because of the divorce and the new wife and her dislike for travel.  I won't let that distract from the fact that my dad will be there and traveled the distance to be there for me.  I will have a father/daughter dance with him.
