Regarding DW Post -- WOW.

In Response to Re: DW = OBNOXIOUS!: Regarding PCOS
In Response to Re: DW = OBNOXIOUS! : It's called natural selection.
Posted by tidetravel
This isn't funny. At all. PCOS is a real issue that one of my best friends is dealing with; she may not even be able to have children. I really hope you consider that next time you post something along those lines again. I'm sure there are other girls on here who are reading this and feeling the same way. I'm really really offended.

Secondly, while I completely disagree with the OP's topic (my guests are traveling minimum 6 hours to come to my wedding), I think it's really disconcerting and scary what you all did to her. No need to google her information and post that she has something like PCOS or was in a Rutgers singing group. Why did you all care enough to google something like that??? Whether or not you ACTUALLY posted her phone number, I think anyone who mentioned that you could find it on the internet by plugging in her name is just as bad as the person who apparently actually posted it. What you should have done is sent her a PM and told her, irregardless of whether you agree with her post.

I've really enjoyed being on here and participating but I don't think I'm going to anymore. I think this is just awful and the thread below actually completely changed my mind about how I think of the Knot and this board.

Flame away if you want. I'm over it. And you won't be able to find any of my stuff on the internet, so don't bother looking.

You're right.  I admit - my comment was over the line.  But pointing out that her phone number, etc. was open for the world to see was really in her best interest.  She needs to practice better internet security.

Internet security is one thing, but to equate PCOS with "natural selection" is unspeakably mean, tidetravel, and you should really be ashamed of yourself.

I have PCOS and it makes me upset to read that. I'm not trying to get pregnant yet, but possible infertility is always on my mind.

That is something that should have been PMed to her in private. THAT would have been in her best interest.

I think that thread got really out of hand and it was not a shining moment for the knot.

I didn't miss the point.  OP mentioned 2 distinct topics:

The first was that my comment was fucked up, and, I readily admit that it was.  I can't take it back, but I will apologize to those people that I offended.  I didn't mean it the way that it came out, and for that I am sorry.

The second point was that googling her and mentioning that her phone number, etc. were available to the public was also out of line.  If someone can google your screen name and find out those details with a search that takes less than 5 minutes, then everyone was right to bring that up to her.  It happens all the time, here.

The internet safety thing wasn't that bad.  Get a grip.

It's far better for people who have no intention of using it to bring it to her attention as opposed to someone who could, you know, steal her identity or stalk her.

Plus, she was a raging douche in the whole thread and apparently in many others.  No one actually called her or sent emails to her boss, so please get over yourself.

Amoro - I don't know what more you want me to say.  I said that I realized what I said was hurtful, and that I apologized.  It's not like I can take it back.  We've all had bad days, and said screwed up things - yesterday was mine.

Pink - I'd really rather not rehash the argument, but what was going through my head as I read the charged thread was that people like her shouldn't be allowed to breed.  Probably something that should have stayed in my head, though.

See, if you said that people with her attitude shouldn't breed, that's one thing.  But knowing about the PCOS thing, and then saying it is a double ouch.  I get it though.  I've had my fair share of "shouldn't have said that" moments.

Sucrets your Mean Girls comment is totally over my head.

I'm sorry for my rant. I was fired up. I was also just glossing over everything she had said and didn't see her post about Rutgers being a "state school."

Just gotta be careful on the internet and the whole thing combined with the one comment upset me.

But it was also in context with the idiotic things that she said.  I highly doubt that Tide would EVER say that to someone that she merely disagreed with, but given the content of the entire thread it's not as awful as people are making it out to be.

(sorry if I'm putting words in your mouth, tide)

That post was a whole lotta crazy...

I just read Tide's comment the same as if someone posted

"I am super duper smart and well coordinated and a gymnast and I feel and bonked my head and almost died!"

Ok, maybe that doesn't quite convey it, but it surprisingly did not bother me other than the momentary "Wow..Tide?" pause in my head.

I also really really don't want to believe that person was real...is someone really that...special?
