MB Las Vegas In Suite Reception

Has anyone had a reception at Mandalay Bay lately? We are having the wedding at the Flamingo Hotel and have booked the MB for our reception. 50 people at most. Using Ipod for music..doing our own thing for alcohol and food. Question is, has anyone done this lately? I know that they say you can't have these type of events without notifying them, however, we don't want to pay an arm and a leg. Any advice for us? Getting married summer of next year. :)

    50 might be a little bit tight if you're using the Vista Suite, but some brides have done it. I recommend renting highboy tables so you have extra spots to set plates and drinks. One of the brides (hstaples?) did that a while back, and it worked out great.

    People are always hauling coolers and food to their rooms. Casinos are very busy. They probably won't even notice anyone bringing food and alcohol in. A lot of people have used Jason's Deli and Masterpiece for their in-suite reception. Albertson's is popular for alcohol.

    Check out the "wedding porn" sticky at the top of the forum. Vegasgroom has a great website chock full of information for all kinds of in-suite receptions. It also has a link to the Vegas Knotties list. You can sort it by venue, go to their planning bios, and read their reviews and look at pictures.

    Did you get a good deal on the vista suite.... any coupon codes? I'm looking at have ours there also for August?

    I recently booked our Vista Suite and paid for it in full from September 5th to September 8th and it came to $1777.58 that also includes the daily resort fee as well as taxes.  That was also without a promotion.  My future in laws just booked two standard rooms through hotel.com and their total bill came out to about $600 and they get free buffets with that.  I just checked out smartervegas.com and it looks like Mandalay Bay added a few more promotions.  So I think I'm going to call them today and see if any of these promotions can be applied to the Vista Suite.  But I think the price really ranges depending on how long you want the room and what time of the year your going.  What's nice is most of the rates for 2013 are now available at Mandalay Bay's website so at least you can get an idea.

    akr, they should let you apply promotions to it since you could of course just cancel the whole thing and rebook for no charge.

    Thanks! Our Suite was booked as of October this year and it was about $700. Pretty good deal I felt. As I have been reading through some of the threads for MB In-Suite Receptions I haven't found much recently of experiences good or bad. It seems they have been from 2010 or 2011 and I have gotten a letter from MB saying you will get shut down if you have a party. So I was wondering if there has been anyone to pull this off more recently. Thank You wrigleyville for easing my nerves about bringing up the food. Now I'm only nervous about the cake at this point. :) I'm pretty new to all of this so would you mind explaining how to get to the "wedding porn" sticky?? lol 
    Also, Thanks Vegasgroom! How would I be able to see your bio so I can check out your info? You all are wonderful! Greatly appreciated! This has been a little stressful in thinking thru the details of a wedding miles away but I'm just starting to get it figured out!! I'm so grateful for the help!
