Hanging Lanterns Indoors (without hurting walls/ceilings)?

Our venue has told us that we can decorate the indoor space however we like so long as we don't do any damage to the space (ie, no hooks screwed into the ceilings or walls). Any ideas on how we can hang paper lanters in an indoor space without doing any damage? I'm considering those 3M Command strips that say they don't do any damage. Has anyone used these? Does anyone have any other ideas?

We'd like to do some draping around the space as well, and I'd take any ideas on how to do that as well!

How did YOU do it?!

Re: Hanging Lanterns Indoors (without hurting walls/ceilings)?

  • Does the reception site have a drop ceiling?  If so, can you hang the lanterns on fishing wire?
  • i've used command strips for curtains in my dorm room and they stayed up all year without falling. they have all kinds for all different weights. even some designed to be waterproof for near windows. i'm sure they would work fine! plus you can always find coupons for them!
