Save the Dates to just out of towners?

We are getting married in my fiance's home town in Louisiana. His family will not need to arrange accommodations. My family and friends will be traveling 1-2 hours to attend our wedding and may choose to get a hotel instead of driving back after a long day of celebrating. We also have A LOT of out of state guests (NY, CA, TN) that will have to arrange travel and accommodations in advance so I would like to give them addequate formal notice. Do I send STD's to just the out of state guests? Out of state and my fam and friends out of town? Or will the wedding invitations 8 weeks out be enough notice for them? Or do I send them to everyone to avoid any confusion (drama!) if word gets out that some received STD's and some did not? help! Thanks :)

    I agree with PP.

Also, all that's necessary in my mind is written or focused, spoken notice of the coming invitation. So you can e-mail people or call them, instead of sending something through the postal service. By "focused, spoken" I mean if it's spoken, make sure they're in a position to write it down. Don't just throw it in 2 hours into dinner or whatever.

Great tip, ladies! I think sending them to everyone is the safe choice. I'm a bit to OCD and I don't work so I like these extra projects so spoken notice is probably not for me :) Thank you both!
