Wedding Woes

Big news here - my brother is going to Afghanistan

I am NOT happy. And I'm guessing my parents are not happy, either.

He's going to be working for a military contractor. If he makes it out alive, I presume he will have a huge chunk of money to show for it.

He signed a job offer yesterday, leaves for training on Monday. 9 weeks later, he leaves for Afghanistan for 50 weeks.

I don't even know what to say to my mom. I don't feel like I can just call her and tell her whatever cute thing the boys did today.

Ugh.

    Wow.

I guess limited options means...limited options.  What kind of work is this?

It maybe not all be scarey and terrible.  Maybe this will give him the kick in the pants he needs to grow up a little.

I just a friendly gal looking for options.

Well, it's probably not anything directly dangerous like something out of "The Hurt Locker."  He is a GIS specialist, which could mean anything related to mapping.

I figure he'll either grow up or he'll end up hanging out with a bunch of delinquents who spend all their free time drinking and smoking.

Yes, that is a big decision. Hope all goes well over there, and he comes home safe and sound.
