The last wedding I was in the bride gave us a cool J. Crew tote with our name embroidered on it and a pretty pashmina wrap. I actually use these gifts on a regular basis! Another bride gave me a really pretty damask zip up overnight bag.

Unfortunately, I don't have any groomsmen gift suggestions. My fiancé has a growing collection of flasks from weddings that he's been in! lol

I was given a really nice monogramed bath robe that I use every day and absolutely love!  I've also gotten cute pajamas, which every girl likes.  For groomsmen, my fiance once got a capcatcher for bottle beers (I had never heard of it, but since he got it, I've bought them as Christmas gifts for my brothers).

We did glasses from fizzy art too! (be very specific with what you want; the colors of  our dresses were painted wrong)

for the groomsmen we did a "shave party" at Aiden Gill the day of the wedding. They have two locations-one uptown and one by the casino

Since our wedding party was small, we went a little nuts. I gave my MOH (and sister) a Kindle. Our Best Man got two new XBOX360 video games (to play with my hubby).
For hostess shower gifts, I purchased Woozies and they were huge hits. I got all of my friendors giftcards to Zea. They seemed to love and appreciate that.

I hate getting crap I'll never use (but feel guilty throwing away). I think it's best to keep the gifts to something that you would want to receive if you were in their shoes (and we've all been there). Think about getting them their day-of jewelry and a lovely pashmina. You can't go wrong there. I also like personalized totes.

For the groomsmen, I feel like purchasing tickets to an event is a good idea. Think about a concert in the near future, etc. It gives everyone something to look forward to. And, let's be honest, who the hell needs another flask?!?

e everrett- i LOVE the shave party and my fiance liked the idea too. I am totally going to look into that. And any other advice for fizzy art let me know.  I am soo excited! ha!

I got my bridesmaids their jewelry, but I didn't want to only get them jewelry that they're going to wear one time, so I also purchased their wedding day makeup (except for foundation) and a little rollerball scent. I figured those are things they can use after the wedding day. Plus, I take any chance I can as an excuse to visit Sephora :)

tell me about it....i'm tired of monogramed bags and jewlery i'll never wear again. i've only got one set of monogramed bags i use, from a BM gift, from pottery barn and they are make up bags, one medium and one pretty big. Very nice set.  the bride wanted a set for herself.

I have the first monogramed bag in the back of my closet.....never used!

i'm going to be in a wedding in 3 weeks and the bride asked what she should get and she's getting the jewlery for us to wear in the wedding and a bag. i know i'm not going to use. I'm not trying to be negative, really but i recommended getting everyone something different like you were shopping for christmas.

why do BMs have to all wear the same jewlery? i hate that look. its not me, but you have to do what the bride wants.

A prevailing idea on here is, "act like you're shopping for their birthday," like, it's ok to get them different things.  However, I don't think it's WRONG to get them similar or the same things.

I probably just have an odd sense of humor, but I love these things from Anne Taintor: http://www.annetaintor.com/allproducts.html .  They seem "bridesmaid-y" but fun, you could get different things for each person....

I know the PP didn't like bags, but I think it would be ok to get them a canvas or whatever bag for groceries, enviromentally friendly and all that, and they definitely have cute ones.  Plus you might need something to put their stuff "in."

Other suggestions (to go in the bag or whatever): a book each that they might like (different books obvs); iTunes or other gift certificate, or gift certif to a restaurant; spa stuff like feet scrub; gift certif to a spa; cute rain boots from Target (This is NOLA after all Smile); nice wine or tequilla (depending on if they have to fly back home, that could be a hassle though); if they collect something or like something (a character, game, etc), get them that......

Ok that's all I can think of - it is nice that you're thinking of them :) .

Groomsmen - Personalized shaving sets maybe?  Pocketwatch; Swiss army knife; cuff links; again if they have a hobby, something from that (like fishing stuff for someone who goes fishing....video game stuff from someone who likes games....etc).

So yeah I have less ideas for groomsmen, but hope that helps!

its not that i don't like bags, just ones with monograms, i would be less likely to use them in public. I also have so many bags already, i keep most of my bags/purses and use them over and over and I'm really picky about them. I'm not a huge tote bag user.

    Bridesmaids:

Monagrammed canvas tote bags (the knot.com)
Monagrammed waffle weave robes (Sears-only $15)
Jewelry for the wedding (not really counting this since it is for the wedding only)
Framed picture of one of our favorite memories (different pic for each girl)

    Groomsmen:

Gift set of their favorite liquor (bought these at Sam's around Christmas last year)
Monagrammed handkerchief with their initials (JC Penney)
mini tool set (Lowe's-I really can't even tell you what this is, but my FI loved it and thought it was super useful so we bought them for everyone)

I gave my bridesmaids the jewelry for the wedding day (but it was cheap so this wasn't really their gift), a pair of Volatile flip flops, my favorite and the most comfortable flip flops I've ever found.  They're a little more pricey (about $45-$50) a pair, but totally worth it.  The girls loved them and they can continue to wear them after.  They have somewhat of a platform, so it worked well with their dresses after they took off their heels.  I also got them white button-down shirts with "bridesmaid" embroidered on them to wear while we were getting hair and makeup done.

My groomsmen each got a 60-quart ice chest on wheels (I got them at Sam's).  I ordered some waterproof vinyl sticker-paper off the internet and printed each guy's last name on the sticker.  We put the stickers on the ice chests, so they don't have to mark them with a permanent marker with their names.

We wanted to give things that were practical.  They all seemed to really like the gifts.  And the shirts made for a really cute picture while we were getting ready!
