My mother insists on having 3 or 4 couples host, is this really necessary? My ceremony and reception are at the same locale. We arent having ushers, programs, nada. Its 50 or so at the wedding, then we are doing dinner for those people and a cake reception later that night. I just dont see why we need to ask that many people for help!

    Nope. not needed.  MIL wanted us to have host couples but I said no.  I didn't want to ask our guests to work at our wedding, especially when it wasn't necessary.  We had over 200 at our wedding.  Our vendors handled everything as we paid them to do.

    Almost sounds like she just wants people included in the day's events.  I don't know if I'd have that many host couples, even for the 250-275 for our wedding! 

    Maybe see if there's another way you can include them and appease Mom  - although if you're giving nearly 20% of the guests special titles, why not make titles up for everyone coming so nobody feels left out!  Wink
