Wine Cork Trivet Guest Book

Hi Ladies,
I'm new to the vineyard board. I was considering having guests sign a wine cork rather than having a guest book. I would then use the corks to make a trivet like the one below. Has anyone done this? I just wonder if people will skip it because it may be a pain to try to sign a cork...thoughts???

    It's kind of hard to sign a cork both in size and in trying to actually write on it :\

    ditto this.  I have heard of having the guests sign the label on a wine bottle, but even that would be awkward.

    In lieu of a guest book, we are having our guests sign/write advice or where they see us in 5 or 10 years on an index card

    then after the wedding we will take the cards and slip them into a "business card book" thing.

    I've seen people sign a giant oversized wine bottle with a special silver pen, which you can open on your one year anniversary (and share! omg they're huge!). You could also have people sign multiple bottles, which can be aged to different anniversaries.

    i did it at my wedding and people LOVED it!!! I had people sign the corks using permanent markers :)
