When will TK stop being so wacky with the posts on the boards?

AND this is my 1700 post, YAY! ::::throws confetti in the air and sprays champagne all over you all ::::  Not silver yet, but I like making it into new 100's marks.

    Congrats MG!

I was going to make a fresh post about this - but here works too!  Did anyone have/is anyone planning on have a night before get together for OOTers/close locals?  FI just came back from a wedding of his cousins and they had a hosted GTG at the bar of the hotel the block was at.  With our rehearsal being on Wednesday we're considering doing a casual potluck/BBQ style get together the night before for OOTers (we're not fancy schmancy cocktail hour types ;) ) but from the opinions of my wedding month board it seems an uncommon thing.  Thoughts?

We kinda hosted an OOT GTG on the night before the wedding.  We also had it in the bar of the hotel where everyone had reservations.  Since 90% of those people were DH's family, MIL and FIL paid for a few large plates of food for people to munch on, but everyone paid for their own drinks.  It started around 7 or 8 in the evening, after dinner time.  I spent the night at the hotel, but DH spent it at our home.

For reference:  RD was on Thurs, OOT "party" on Fri, and Wedding on Sat.

Yeah our RD is on Wed we're planning on doing Bac Parties on Thurs on then there would be this Friday break then the wedding Saturday.  I keep being told to save Friday because I'll want to relax ect ect.  I really don't think that's going to happen, let's be honest.  Night before the wedding - who the hell is just relaxing somewhere?  Maybe someone with the money to have someone else doing everything for them ala Kim Kardashwhatever but if I've got people who have flown in from the east coast - who I don't get to see that often (including family) I feel like I'll want to spend time with them and I always hear that weddings wiz by and you don't really spend a lot of quality time with folks.

Yeah, that's why we had the super casual GTG for family on Friday, most of them flew in on Thursday night or Friday morning.  It was nice to take a wedding break, and focus on family.  I spoke to family at the wedding a little bit, the day goes by SO fast, and EVERYONE at the wedding wants to talk with you.

Ok, thank you for validating my feelings.  *breathes out*  I feel less insane now, espesically after hearing it from someone who has DONE it.

The down side is we're getting married up in Everett, our hotel block is up there and prettimuch everyone lives down here.  We're considering getting a shuttle express to take people to and fro so they too can enjoy and relax - since not everyone will have a rental car likely.

BTW - have you lurked on the E board today?

    No problem :)

We also had to deal with distance from our hotel and venue AND our friends who weren't staying the night at the Hotel on Friday, but were Saturday.

Most of our friends live in Seattle, our Hotel was in Arlington and our Venue was in Stanwood.  Our solution was to hire a shuttle, we used these guys:  <a href="http://www.aacharterbus.com/" rel='nofollow'>http://www.aacharterbus.com/</a>

    We got this shuttle:

    <a href="#" title="Click to view a larger photo" onclick="return gSiteLife.LoadForumPage('ForumImage', 'plckPhotoId', '5a5a1593-e24a-4279-a6da-6822b8d2a37e', 'plckRedirectUrl', gSiteLife.EscapeValue(window.location.href));"> <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/images/store/10/6/5a5a1593-e24a-4279-a6da-6822b8d2a37e.medium.jpg" alt="" /></a>

It fit about 50 people.  To have it from 1:30 to 9:30 was a little over $1,000.  It picked up the guests in Arlington and dropped them off in Stanwood.  Then when everyone was good and sloppy drunk, they got driven back to the Hotel.
    HTH!

I've been lurking on E, but the crazyness of post order going on in the threads is driving me bonkers.  Am I missing anything good?

yeah, heh, check out the post targeted for the one bride - I thought it was a PM post notify - it's not.  Maybe my humor it's not the same as yours but I found some of the reactions to be rather funny.  The rsvp one was interesting too - man they turn on each other FAST!
