How big....is too big?

So, I remember I showed you ladies the box I bought to start my card box. :) Just in case you missed it, here it is again.

I want to say it's about 15" tall. and about 12"-13" wide.

I thought it was the PERFECT size :)....

FI however, now wants to use a box he got from his father. That held fireworks this past 4th of july.

It looks SOMETHING like this:

Only thing is...it's at least 25" long...and a good 18" high.

How big....is too big?

I thought so too. Because...I mean...it just LOOKS huge...at least the box i found was taller...so it doesnt look too big. But this one is just so LONG!
  • edited December 2011
Yeah I think the original box is a good size.  I think the other one would look funny and take up lots of space

I think so too....but FI really likes it.

It's really the only thing he's kind of....suggested, as far as wedding plans go.

I don't want to discourage him....but I don't want it to look funny either....

ETA:  Sorry, I was giggling and I forgot to answer.     I don't think it's necessarily too big... mine was a 3 tiered round box thing that was pretty dadgum big.

Tiffany, I think that sounds like a pretty good day!

Ashlee, I think the new box is probably a little too big too.

And, just for laughs, my dad had one EXACTLY like your new box that graced my parents' living room for years, until my mom "hid" it somewhere.  Haven't seen it in a while :)

I think it might be too big. But like i said...it's the ONLY thing that FI has even suggested as far as wedding plans go, and he was super excited when he came up with the idea...so that makes me hesitant to knock it. I think i might bring it up to him tonight, depending on how he reacts we'll see where we go with this.

If we do end up keep that one over my hobby lobby box...i have NO idea where we would put it <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-undecided.gif" border="0" alt="Undecided" title="Undecided" />

Random idea for using your FI's box... I am in the process of creating a wedding keepsake box for all the random tidbits leftover from my wedding - my garter, a napkin, my wedding book, the cards, a tube of bubbles, all of those things... and surprisingly, there's way more to put in it than I originally thought there would be.  I wanted something pretty, but I'm not planning to put it anywhere where it will actually show - I'm going to put it in a closet, or under the bed, or something like that, but I still wanted it to be pretty, since it's my wedding stuff, ya know?  Anyway, maybe you could find a way to make this your keepsake box for after the wedding.

oooo i love this :) if we come to a conclusion that it's too big, then i'll suggest this! It's a nice way to give and take...

If not...then i guess i'm be making a return trip to hobby lobby :(

Tiffany - you are making me giggle.

    My opinion:
Yeah, the box your FI suggested is big... BUT if it's important to him (and it was actually something he was excited about suggesting), then I think it wouldn't be a big deal... Is it likely to be "full"?  No... But it would be unique!  (and might make him feel good about contributing)

I'm with Diana on this one. My poor FI just does not care. The ONE thing he got excited about was having Papasito's Fajitas. And I am not really a fajitas at my wedding kind of girl, and we definitely do not have fajitas at our wedding kind of families, but bless his heart if that was the only thing with all this that he asked for.
We made the decision last fall and i am SO glad i gave it to him. It gets him all happy when he talks about it. :o)

FI really wanted a chocolate fountain, which is another reason why I was so upset when the deal fell through with the Tribute, because that was the only way it could fit into our budget.

$500+ for a chocolate fountain!! sheesh

I am working with FFIL's GF, she has a small chocolate fountain. I'm going to see if I can snag it for the wedding. It probably wont last long with 125 people. but hell...it'd be SOMETHING!

  • edited December 2011
I think if he's really excited about it, I'd just use his box. It's pretty cool looking & unique. And yea, mine is a 3 tiered cake looking thing as well. No one will care how big your box is. :)

And yea, that was my first thought too Tiffany, I was surprised it wasn't mentioned earlier! :)
