La Scala Brides

Hey ladies,

How many projects are you planning for the venue decor? I am trying to decide how much I really need to do because I'm in the Venetian room which already has a ton of character and I don't feel like it needs a whole lot. But there are so many cute ideas and projects out there!

I am planning to have really, really simple centerpieces and maybe some chair banners ("mr" and "mrs") and I'll need the basics - i.e. card box, escort cards/seating chart, place to put gifts, etc.

Anybody have any creative ideas or plans? How big are your centerpieces if you're using the big 12-seater tables?

Re: La Scala Brides

  • I am completely with you. I feel like the Venetian room is so warm and has a lot of character so it needs minimal decoration.

Our centerpieces are vases with submerged orchids, floating candle on top then a bunch of votives on the table.

I got a bird cage for our present table then I want to do some kind of cake table decor.

We are doing a seating chart board. But besides that I am trying to think of what else I need to do!
  • Yeah I'm debating the seating chart vs. escort cards. Also planning to make a display board of family wedding photos - don't know where to put it though, like when you walk in by the escort cards or by the cake table?

Also, we are going with only a beer/wine hosted bar package - I am thinking we should put a sign on the bar saying what beverages are hosted so people don't ask for a mixed drink and then realize after its already made that they have to pay... does that sound reasonable?

  • I'm also debating how to decorate and how much to decorate. When we first went to look at the room, I remember Cathy saying she's a fan of just candlelight on the tables and that it really made the room feel warm. I don't know how we are setting up the tables yet, but I'm considering just using the hurricane vases and candles they provide to save money.

As far as other decor, we'll do the card box and I'm going to make ribbon boards for the escort cards. I would like to make signs for the cake table, photo booth and such, but I need to make sure they match the feel of the room.

I like your idea of putting a sign at the bar. I think it will be really helpful for the guests to know what's available and the bartenders will appreciate not having to explain what's available each time. Good thinking!
