AW: Invitations!

We finalized the design for the invitations.  I'm really happy with them!  We're ordering a sample print this week, and then ordering the full batch so we can assemble them once I move back home in late May.

We ordered from Cards & Pockets (they're doing our printing, too, since our printers aren't equipped to do full bleed and a careful color match):

- Vista (like a shimmery cornflower blue) folded A7 sized cards (basically the size and shape of your typical greeting card)
- Opal envelopes (both A7 and RSVP) - it's like a cream with a gold shimmer
- Cream Puff invitation sheets
- Cream Puff RSVP cards (x2 since we have two inserts that size)
- Cream Puff specially cut 2" circles with our wedding logo printed on them
- White Gold specially cut A7 sized mattes
- White Gold specially cut 2.25" circles to use as a matting for the wedding logo

We also bought 2" lace ribbon.  And I also bought a 2" custom address stamp with our logo (which I designed) from lovetocreatestamps on Etsy (clicky) for only $25!  That will be stamped on the back of every invitation envelope in gold and then embossed.

Total cost was about $350 all included (printing and stamps, too), so approximately $3.50/invitation.  I'm pleased with that!

When assembled, they should look like this:

That looks awesome! Can I ask how much the printing was/is? I know it would differ from our's but we may have a problem with our printer and thought maybe having them print our's.

The printing came with the paper included, so I can't break down printing exclusively, but here was what they quoted me:

    Cream Puff 4.5x6.5 w/Color Printing (Invitation) 110 at 0.50 each = 55.00
    Cream Puff 3.5x5 w/Color Printing (RSVP) 110 at 0.41 each = 45.10
    Cream Puff 3.5x5 w/Color Printing (Information) 110 at 0.41 each = 45.10
    Cream Puff 2x2 w/Color Printing (Logo) 110 at 0.31 each = 34.10
    Laser Cut Fee 110 at 0.50 each = 55.00
    White Gold 2.25x2.25 (Circle Shape) 110 at 0.16 each = 17.60
    Laser Set Up Fee 1 at 10.00 = 10.00
    White Gold 4.75x6.75 (Matting)  110 at 0.36 each = 39.60
    Vista Folded Card 5x7  110 at 0.35 = 38.50

Total for all materials and printing (except postage stamps, lace, and stamp/ink/embossing tools) is $340.  I got a military discount as my fiancee is a Marine, which brought that down a bit.

So I have a stupid question:)
I hear of a lot of brides that say they have a stamp or will have a stamp. I'm curious if this takes place of the "return address" section of the envelope, or with invitations, do you NOT put your return info there? It just goes on the back? I feel like I missed the bridal training class or something. I have no idea what to do... lol

Our stamp has our address on it - we have a logo that looks like this:

    <a href="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/images/store/8/9/481ef88a-1123-4501-9944-1a8d3c72d36b.large.jpg" title="Click to view a larger photo" class="PhotoLink"> <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/images/store/8/9/481ef88a-1123-4501-9944-1a8d3c72d36b.medium.jpg" alt="" /></a>

And our return address one just doesn't have the date at the bottom, and has the address written around the circle.

I just think it looks classier to have a return address on the back of the envelope rather than the front.  And stamping it on and embossing it gives it a really classy finished look.  Here's an article on "How To" with some pictures (they did silver, I'm doing gold):

I love it!  Also, thanks for the printing breakdown.  Once I get my design back I'm going to have to do a trial run at the printers.

Magnum, I think you can do either front or back. However, sometimes the stamps or embossments are bigger so the back is just easier. I do also think it's considered more formal to put them on the back. (I'm not an etiquette guru though, so don't quote me on that.)

I think we'll probably do our STD's with it on the front and the formal invites with it on the back.

So what names do you put for the return address? Do you put your married name? Since you aren't actually married yet? Or how would that part be worded?
I do like the look of the stamp and embossing and everyting... I just don't think I could do that. I would get super frustrated! Although I did come across an address embosser that like imprints the address into the paper, I may get one of those!
I just don't really know how to write our names?
