We're planning on using a bunch of these for decor for our ceremony and possibly reception. Gonna create a backdrop of them for our "altar" since we're getting married in the banquet hall at a hotel and there's really no designated front of the room.
That tutorial is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks =)
Yay! thank you Amber!! Yours look awesome btw ;) We're planning on using a bunch of these for decor for our ceremony and possibly reception. I'm doing a backdrop thing too with tissue paper poms most likely. I do like the look of the tulle ones though. Maybe I'll make one of each first before getting all my supplies. Do you have a plan on how to hang yours? I am thinking fishing wire from the ceiling, unless I can either find or figure out how to make a cheap arch or frame to hang them from.

fashionx: if you look in my bio under the ceremony label, there's a picture near the bottom of what I'm envisioning for our "altar" =) we'll probably use fishing line to hang the poms from that and I kind of like the rhinestones on them!
I hope they don't look like loofahs in person.....
I made a few and that is what my FI said, "they look like your sponge thing in the bathroom." He meant my loofah. :/

Hmm, I don't think they look like loofah's. I mean I see the similarity, but in the setting I don't see it... I could be wrong, though!

I'm not saying don't make them, I'm sure they will look lovely. I think some of the ones in the instructions are weird colors that make them seem more "loofah" than "pom", i.e. "bathroom peach"
We were thinking of doing French lace or tulle ones, but my MOH said the same thing about the loofah. I don't care. I like it in the setting! :) Or you could do tissue. Here's a link:

Here's a link: http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/article/tulle-or-net-pom-poms-how-toI'm still interested in how people plan to string them. The ceiling is to high for us to do it from there. Any ideas on how to drap them behind us? Good luck! Posted by laurebkraft
My picture is on my other computer, but I have a couple of pictures of what we were thinking. Basically it's a string going from one side of the wall to the other. Then, hanging from that string are poms that are attached to another string (think like stringing pomanders from long string). That was so unclear. Check back and I will post a pic later!

LOL I'm still laughing at the loofah thing. Mainly because I totally had a red loofah at one point, and I'm literally making red tulle balls.... hmm maybe I should just hang red loofahs from the ceiling. just kiddin' ;) I totally see how the seafoam green could look loofah-esque.

You can also change the size of the balls by changing the size of the cardboard.
Here were my first few trial runs, but I didn't fluff them before I photographed them:
