Chapel, outdoor, park>?...ceremony only location needed

Our reception is in the party room at my condo in Roseville (Hwy 36/Lexington). We need a ceremony location for about 40-50 guests that isn't terribly far from there. I have looked all over the Internet and websites, trying to find something that isn't published or is unknown, besides what is on the Internet.

I don't want anything fancy, but don't want to just go to the courthouse. It will be a short ceremony, quick pics and then on to the reception.
The issues I have are the churchs/chapels are too expensive or if it is outdoors, I need to provide chairs, which raises the cost.

Anyone know of a place that is scenic/nice looking that has seating for guests that would be a good place for a quick wedding ceremony?

THANKS!

  • Hi there! We are having our ceremony at the Muriel Sahlin Arboretum in Roseville which is part of Central Park.  It is gorgeous there in the summer. The only thing is that they don't provide chairs for guests, though with only 40-50 people chairs might not be too terribly expensive.

Another location we considered was Black Bear Crossing near Como.  They do provide benches at their location.  Part of why we didn't choose BB was because since we were only doing a ceremony, we were restricted to a earlier time slot.

    Hope these help! Good luck!
  • Thanks! I am familiar with both locations and the arboretum is my first choice. Can you recommend a company that provides chairs for a reasonable cost? We will have about 50 guests also.
Do you know what time Black Bear crossings restricted you to for a ceremony only?

    Thanks for the reply!

  • Our wedding is July 2013 so we haven't decided on a rental company yet.  The Arboretum provided a few referrals. We are looking into:
Central Rental-Fridley (regular folding chairs $1.85 each, garden chairs $3.40)
Midway Party Rental (regular folding chairs $2 each, garden chairs $3.50)
    Ultimate Events-Plymouth ($2, $2.75, and $3.50)

Most places have pretty similar prices. Our deciding factor will be the delivery and set-up charges.

It looks like I deleted the email from Black Bear.  I want to say we were restricted to a noon start time and out by 2 or 3, which didn't work for our dinner reception.  If you are having apps or dessert only, that might work for you.
  • IOne last question....how much does BB charge for ceremony only?

    Thanks for your reply!

  • I cant remember what they charge but I believe they list the pricing on their website.  I posted the link above, though you might have to copy/paste.
