Engagement Ring Appraisal

Hi. I live in Centereach Long Island, and I was wondering if anyone knows of a place I can go to to get my engagement ring appraised? I can't go to the jewelry store it was bought from because they went out of business. Do I need to call a specific type of jeweler and make an appointment or can I just walk in and ask them? (Sry I don't know how to go about this at all)  After I get it appraised how do I insure it?  Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance! Smile

    Hey! I'm in FLA and was in the same situation - place went out of business. I just went to Mayor's in the mall. Do they have that big jewelry store in LI? If not, you can go to a known jewelry store and they will do it for you. It cost me about $80.

    There is an independent jewelry judge in Garden City.  He doesn't sell or buy jewelry, he only appraises it.

    I used the Jewelry Judge in Garden City as well.  He's fantastic.  My dad is a lawyer and he also uses the jewelry judge for all of his divorce cases.
