Vow Feedback Please!

Can you read these and tell me what you think? Honestly?  Part I borrowed and part I wrote myself...

___________, I take you to be my husband.

I join with you in marriage

So that we may build a happy and fulfilled life together

Through love, respect, sacrifice, and loyalty

I will have faith in us as a couple and never give up on us

It is my vow, my testament, and my promise to you now

That I will spend the rest of my life with you and

Stand by you even through the worst of times

And that I will be honest to you and always be myself with you.

 

We know what makes a marriage work;

Love, commitment, communication,

Laughter, support, honesty, and

Valuing one another above all others.

I promise these and so much more to you now.

I promise to hold our marriage up as a treasured gift

To give you my all

Every day

And to be your loving partner forever

I love you

    I like the second paragraph, but the first one is kind of stuffy and scripted sounding.... Usually if couples choose to write their own vows, this is exactly what they do not want. I would change that up a bit. Second paragraph is really pretty though!

    OP- I like them.  I think vows can be anyway you want them because they are just that, YOUR vows.

    Awww, that was very lovely and I think it reads well!

    The only change I would make is from:

    "I will have faith in us as a couple and never give up on us"

    to:

    "I have faith in us as a couple and will never give up on us"

    i think your vows are beautiful! my only concern is that they might be a little long if you're going to try to memorize them. Just a wording suggestion, if you're interested:

     "I will have faith in us as a couple and never give up on us"to"I will have faith and never give up on us as a couple"
