Jewish Weddings

Introduction

Hi everyone. I've been lurking since I got engaged two weeks ago, but thought I'd say hi now.

My partner and I are planning a very Jewish wedding for sometime in the spring. We are observant Conservative folks and are excited about the huppah. We announced our engagement with an aleyah last Shabbat and it was fabulous. I can't wait to have our community present for the huppah as well.

Sweet proposal story-- I was oblivious on the day. We've been together 4.5 years and talking about marriage for much of that. He took me to a local park and we spent the day walking around, going to the art museum in the park, got ice cream from the ice cream truck, then climed the water tower for a veiw of the city. There he waited for us to have the tower alone, and asked me if I wanted to get married.

I'm sure I'll have lots of questions as we move through the planning. Right now we are looking for a venue that allows a kosher caterer.

Welcome! Always happy to hear about more people keeping the faith! The ladies on this board are extremely helpful (I've certainly asked my share of questions!).

    Hi All:
I'm new too. We are having a conservative ceremony in Washington DC. Our rabbi has been great. Looking forward to reading all the postings.
