Favor Ideas

I'm doing a lemon and lime wedding (so my colors are green and yellow) it's June wedding and my flowers are daisies.
I always thought a favor should be something people can keep and remember, that isn't too cheesy. I love memories and photos. So I wanted to do my favors that every family got a frame, and in the thank you cards I would mail a photo of them and us. (It's a small wedding- 65 guests). The frame would also double as the escort card. and I would have the date and our names on the frame (haven't decided that yet)
Now, my mom says that I shouldn't give anything knickknacky because no one cares about those, and I should do like a candy buffet (which sounds a lot more expensive to me)
What do you think??

Most of the replies you're going to get are to have edible favors.  I've gotten framed photos, glass coasters, wine stoppers, etc. at weddings and I always end up throwing them away b/c they're not my style.  I feel bad when I do it, though.

What about small bottles of limoncello?  (You'd have to check with your venue's rules on alcohol, and you might need a separate favor for your under-21 guests and any recovering alcoholics.)  The I-don't-care-about-favors people can drink the limoncello and move on.  The people who like tokens from a special day can reuse the bottle as a bud vase, etc.  You could put a little hang tag around the neck to say thanks for coming.

I do like the candy buffet idea, but they seem like a LOT of work.  But, chances are, your guests have never seen one and they certainly are pretty.  Especially with all the green and yellow candy options you have.  (Easier color palette than mine was - grey!)

Another thing to think about  - if you use the favor as the escort card, then your guests are going to have to carry that around with them during the cocktail hour when all they want is a drink and some food.  We did small cards that people tucked into their pockets so their hands were free to eat, eat, eat.

I agree about the edible favors. Limoncello is a great idea. Or you could do cookies, some with green, some with yellow icing. I agree with Jennifer that I might leave a frame behind or maybe not save it if I didn't know you'd be sending me a photo to put in it. Plus, if it wasn't my decorating style, I'd probably donate to Salvation Army. Sorry!

We did jars of blueberry jam that we made this summer (our colors were navy and copper) and used those as escort cards, too. Our cocktail hour and reception were in a tent, so people could find their table, put their stuff down and then go eat/drink. Here was my inspiration photo:

    Hi

I gave out navy blue pashmina's to all the female guest and they were a hit.  I got married in August on the water and my Wedding Coordinator put them in a basket and handed them to all the female guest saying " This is from so and so in the event you get chilly later" I have been to several parties since and there is always someone from my wedding wearing the pashmina.  I just went to a funeral this morning and there were 3 guest wearing the pashmina and they all made comments.  I also have had people come up to me on the street and tell me they heard about the Pashmina's at my wedding.  The best part they were not expensive and were of very good quality.

Go to fashionunic.com to check out the cost, etc.

Just curious: What did you give the male guests?

I didn't give the males anything, my thought was they had open bar and that would be enough for them and it was. I personally do not think men care whether they get a favor or not....what the men comment about to this day is how they were offered 2nds after they finished their meal.  That is just me, I am sure others may feel differently.

We are doing donations instead...I think your idea is really sweet, but unfortunately, many people simply won't appreciate the effort/monney that went into it.

The fact that your wedding is small might help, but I don't have framed photos of my friends and cousins all over my house  ;)

We gave out pashminas, too!  From the same company.  We did grey, off-white, and pink ones so people got a choice.  I didn't order enough for EVERY female guest.  They weren't our favor, just an extra token.  We had only a few leftover.  Our wedding was in October so some ladies brought something to cover themselves anyway.  The church we used had no heat, and our reception site had a porch so people were still able to enjoy being out there, even though it got a little chilly at night.  People are still using them!  The quality is really good - I have one from Nordstroms and I can't tell the difference.

For our favor, we did scratch tickets since we were at the Casino.  Cheap but fun.  Except for my uncle who scratched every ticket at his table before the other guests got to it.  Booooo.  :-)

We're doing donations as well...with an invite list of 230, we can't see spending all that money on favors when it could go towards a better cause (pretty sure we're donating to Dana Farber & The Jimmy Fund).

I think edible favors are best, and you will hear that a lot
did you think about doing Daisy Flower cookies?
They a pretty popular cookie shape and you can have them decoarted with your colors...

I too thought about a frame. But I nixed the idea. I know my family and friends and a little frame is not really wnat fits into their home-- if its not their decor (and likely, you'd chose something in your taste)

a few people might use it, but you might waste your money.

I don;t LOVE candy bars but thats just my opinion. Guests usually LOVE them
I'm pretty sure you can get candy in bulk. Esp. stuff like jelly beans and gummies cheaper than you will get the frames. Check online for bulk candy stores. They usually sell 3-4 lb bags which will be enough.

I know I am going to Candy and Nuts in woonsocket to get 2 cases of clear rock candy sticks (for our coffee drinkers, as a stirrer) and they are $24 a case and come 50 per case. So for your small wedding you can prob do one case, a few lbs of assorted candies and get the jars to hold them on at michaels with a 50% coupon or on the knot classifieds. I bet you can do the entire thing for  $50 bucks

I like the "scratch ticket lottery" idea too!  Is there any way to personalize the front so it says your and your husband's name with the date?  I think people would love that!

If you are talented at cooking, you could make lemon curd and give out jars of that to continue the theme..  Alternatively, your could give out small boxes of lemon squares tied with a green ribbon....
